Laufey (pronounced lay-vay) Lín Bing Jónsdóttir, known mononymously as Laufey, is an Icelandic-Chinese singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born on April 23, 1999, in Reykjavík, Iceland. Her musical journey began early; at 15, she performed as a cello soloist with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. She gained national attention as a finalist on Ísland Got Talent in 2014 and as a semi-finalist on The Voice Iceland in 2015. Pursuing her passion, Laufey attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she honed her unique blend of jazz, classical, and pop influences.
In 2020, Laufey released her debut single, "Street by Street," which topped Icelandic radio charts and garnered viral attention online. This success was followed by her 2021 EP, Typical of Me, showcasing her talent for blending vintage jazz with contemporary storytelling.
