GWAR Tickets

GWAR is a legendary American shock-rock and heavy metal band formed in Richmond, Virginia, in 1984. Combining sci-fi horror, outrageous satire and theatrical destruction, they built a cult following centered around over-the-top stage personas and gore-filled performances. The band’s mythos revolves around intergalactic warriors banished to Earth—led by frontmen like Dave Brockie’s Oderus Urungus and later Michael Bishop’s Blöthar the Berserker—who use music as a weapon of chaos and political satire. Their theatricality and aggressive sound have kept them unique and enduring in the metal world.

GWAR’s most recent full-length studio release is The New Dark Ages, which came out on June 3, 2022 via their label Slave Pit Inc. The fifteenth album blends thrash metal and hard rock, delving into themes of technology, societal decay and their sci-fi mythology. The record was well-received for its biting social commentary and Michael Bishop’s commanding vocal presence as Blöthar.

In April 2025, GWAR announced a new companion release—the mini-album and graphic novel The Return of Gor Gor, set for release on July 25, 2025, via Pit Records and Z2 Comics. The lead single, “Lot Lizard,” features their trademark absurdity and grotesque humor.

GWAR will hit the road in support of their latest release on the “The Return of Gor Gor Tour,” celebrating their release and 40th anniversary. The North American leg kicks off on October 18, 2025, in Salt Lake City, UT, and runs through November 22, 2025, ending in Norfolk, VA.
