In 2020, Joe Biden selected her as his running mate, and together they defeated incumbent President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence. Sworn in on January 20, 2021, Harris’s vice presidency has been marked by her leadership on issues like voting rights, immigration, and international diplomacy, while also embodying a historic milestone that has reshaped the possibilities for women and people of color in American politics.
