They earned a total of 9 Top 40 singles on the British Charts, with 3 of their studio albums hitting the top 5 on the UK Albums Charts. It was the release of their 2008 album, “Only by the Night”, that finally brought them success in their home country, with the singles, “Use Somebody”, “Notion”, and “Sex on Fire” from that album all hitting number 1 on the Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart. “Only by the Night” was their first US platinum album, though their earlier albums have since been certified platinum. “Only by the Night” was also the number one selling album in Australia that same year and was certified platinum nine times.
