Madeon tours North America

The wait finally ended for fans hoping Madeon would tour the United States and Canada. In fact, he rolled into North America in June and hung around a good portion of the summer.

Madeon kicked things off in the U.S. at the Foundation in Seattle, Washington on Thursday, June 5th. Then he was off to Las Vegas, Phoenix, San Diego, Costa Mesa and Los Angeles before moving North of the Border for a stop at Guvernment in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on June 21st.

If it seemed like Madeon too up residence in 'Sin City' for most of the month of July…he did. He returned to the states and played Surrender and the Encore Beach Club in Las Vegas multiple times before capping off his trek by playing the hugely popular Global Dance Festival at the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver, Colorado on July 20th.

All in all, the young Frenchman hit 16 different cities on his summer tour, with the Insomniac festival and Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas among those stops. And if you thought the fun was over … guess again. Madeon added a few more tour stops in the U.S., returning to Vegas to play the Encore Beach Club in September before moving on to Echostage in Washington, D.C. He moves overseas in October for shows at Nef Du Grand Palais, Once Again Club and La Laiterie in France, so be sure to get your Madeon tickets now.

Hugo Pierre Leclerq, aka Madeon, had that moment at age 11 where he felt like the commercial music industry was pretty terrible. But he also got to the point where he was able to embrace pop music as both 'a format and a feeling.' And since then, this French DJ/producer has harnessed those feelings – only to unleash them in front of audiences sometimes topping 65,000 people or more.

Talk about a guy whose career has progressed at warp speed. From his early teens, when he started producing trance under the name of "DJ Deamon," Leclerq seemed to sense his future was bright. He tackled Eurodance under the moniker "Wayne Mont" until 2010, when he began using his current name, Madeon, which is simply an anagram of his previous nickname. And seriously, how many people that age do you know with three aliases?

It was July 7, 2011 that will stand as the day to changed Leclerq's life and propelled him to global fame. That's the day a clip of him performing his mash-up "Pop Culture" was uploaded to YouTube, where it garnered some six million views in just a few days. Before long, the man ultimately known as Madeon would be invited to play major American music festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza and the Electric Daisy Carnival. By 2012, he was at number 54 on DJ Mag's Top 100 DJ's list.

Madeon released a new single on August 3, 2013 titled "Technicolor." He also worked with Lady Gaga on two tracks – "Gypsy" and "Mary Jane Holland" on her upcoming album "ARTPOP."
