No Swedish House Mafia reunion
Fans of the Swedish House Mafia holding their breath for a reunion probably shouldn't get their hopes up.
Many were quick to notice when flyers distributed announcing the lineup for the Ultra Music Festival featured all three members of the Swedish House Mafia (Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello). In fact, it marks the first time all three have been booked at the same event since their final appearance together in 2013.
Despite all the chatter, it seems there will be no Swedish House Mafia reunion (at least according to Billboard). That's because Axwell and Ingrosso (now officially a duio) are fresh off the release of their new single, "Something New," have a forthcoming album to promote on Def Jam and a number of festival appearances penciled into their busy schedule.
Angello, meanwhile, has continued to tour and build his SIZE Records imprint, which just celebrated it's 10th year.
Axwell has also been super busy opening a new restaurant with Australian DJ Grant Smillie. The new eatery is called E.P. & L.P., a play on words from (extended play and long play albums). The restaurant is said to be modern, Asian eating house and will feature dishes from Australian chef Louis Tikram, who will blend together Thai with touches of Fijian, Korean, Indonesian and Malaysian cuisines.
Axwell and Ingrosso's forthcoming album is scheduled for release sometime in 2015.
Swedish House Mafia set for "Leave the World Behind" premiere
Swedish House Mafia recently released a trailer for their film chronicling the end of the group, and that's not all. The group also has plans to screen the movie at SXSW. Want details? Read on.
The upcoming movie is said to chronicle Swedish House Mafia's struggles with fame and the demands it placed on its members. The film, called "Leave The World Behind," was produced by Christian Lawson and will premiere in Austin, Texas on March 12, 2014 at 6 p.m. in the largest venue in the SXSW film festival schedule.
The film fans will see documents the band's decision to break up, as well as the decision to hit the road for one more tour before calling it quits for good. The movie will provide the audience with a look into the world of electronic music 'rarely seen,' as well as the 'psychological torment of the members as they choose to walk away from fame in favor of saving their friendship.'
Once "Leave The World Behind" has its official premiere, Swedish House Mafia will allow fans the opportunity to try and get the film to their city. An interactive map on the group's website allows fans to choose their current location and cast a "vote" to bring the film to a local theater.
Beyond Swedish House Mafia, Steve Angello is working on what he says is the antidote to generic dance music – his first album since the group split last year. A release date is planned for the first half of 2014.
Swedish House Mafia says goodbye (Updated April 3, 2013)
Swedish House Mafia is apparently no more. It is unknown, at this point, whether the group members will collaborate with each other again.
On September 24, 2012, Swedish House Mafia announced the dates for their farewell tour, appropriately named "One Last Tour." It kicked off in November 2012 and wrapped in March 2013. Tickets were in high demand, leading the group to add additional shows during the run. But all good things must come to an end, and it did for the group with a final appearance together at the Ultra Music Festival. They played an opening and closing set on March 15 and March 24, 2013, respectively.
In their farewell appearance, there were some unforgettable moments. Axwell offered up his mix of Ivan Gough, Feenixpawl, and Georgi Kay's "In My Mind." Ingrosso played his collaboration with Alesso, "Calling." And the highlight was a remix of Coldplay's "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall." As they sang "raise the flag," the three each waved flgas that sported an SHM dot, representing the band's logo.
So, is this the end of electronic era? Was the 'last' gig really the last for Steve Angello, Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso? The group told media gathered for an afterparty that they were seeking 'space to just relax a bit.' And individually, these guys aren't going anywhere. After some down time and a chance to unwind, Angello said it'd be straight back to work.
"It never really feels like it ends," he said. "At some point, it just keeps on going."
Indeed, it sounds like the door may not have fully closed on Swedish House Mafia. And for fans of this super-trio – their farewell was attended by thousands – that's good news indeed.
Headed for a farewell?
The DJ supergroup comprised of Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello - collectively known as Swedish House Mafia - is already on its farewell tour.
'Today we want to share with you that the tour we are about to go on will be our last,' the trio wrote in a message on its website on June 23, 2012. 'We want to thank every single one of you who came on this journey. We came, we raved, we loved.'
The group officially formed in 2008, and two years later inked a record deal with UMG's Polydor Records. They released their first official single, 'One (Your Name),' on May 26, 2010 and immediately found international success by charting at number 7 on the UK Singles Chart. A second single, 'Miami Ibiza,' climbed to No. 4. Both tracks had been taken from the trio's 'Until One' album, a collection of productions and remixes done by the group and as individual artists. Other singles include 'Save the World' and 'Greyhound.'
Where Swedish House Mafia found success, it also found controversy. On July 7, 2012 the group played to a sold-out crowd in Phoenix Park, Dublin for 45,000 fans. The concert turned to chaos when a total of nine people were stabbed in a series of unprovoked attacks. There was also at least one fatality during the show from a suspected drug overdose. A week later, three more people were stabbed by one assailant at the Milton Keynes Bowl in Buckinghamshire, England.Swedish House Mafia is one of the myriad of performers for this September's iHeartRadio Festival at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Swedish House Mafia Tickets - Supergroup House Music to the Max
Even now, house music is still the rage. Go to any nightclub in the world. So it would stand to reason that DJ/producers Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso -- prestigious producers and label owners -- would get together to create one of the most phenomenal and grand creative mixes ever known to man. It was the mid-2000s when they came together, but they truly broke out in the music industry on August 12, 2008, playing at the Main Room at Cream Amnesia located right in Ibiza, Spain. Once they started wowing crowds, EMI Records took notice and signed them on a contract for their official debut album.

It was the year of 2010 when the debut album featured the powerhouse hits 'One.' Another version of the song was also release under the title 'One (Your Name)' featuring the talents of Pharrell Williams of the Neptunes. All over the United Kingdom, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Belgium, the song became a true Top Ten hit.

There's only one thing to say about the splendor that is the Swedish House Mafia, and that is full-on audio explosion! When you get a few of those good DJs together to form a supergroup, the result is a setup that's so big that Hiroshima would look at the Atom Bomb as if it were one of those little firecrackers.
