The History of Electronic Concerts

Forget string instruments and traditional songs and dances– electronic music is a genre all its own. Electronic is also one of the newer forms of music as it relies so heavily on electronic devices – many of which were only invented in recent history. With origins in Europe, mainly Paris and Germany, electronic music made its way towards the states in the 1960s and 70s. From electronic drums and synthesizers to turntables and more, electronic concerts feature an exciting array of different instruments, tones, and melodies to get the crowds dancing. Electronic concerts are atypical in that they largely focus on the beats and sounds of the instruments themselves, rather than lyrics.

The Live Electronic Concert Experience

Electronic concerts are typically called EDM concerts, or “electronic dance music” concerts. If you don’t like to be up on your feet dancing, you probably won’t enjoy one of these shows! EDM concerts are known for their incredible light productions and laser shows that go in sync with the beats and melodies of the electronic instruments. Typically, concerts feature a well-known DJ who serves as both the emcee and music master. These shows often draw in young crowds with the stamina to dance the day and night away.

Notable Electronic Performers

There are many talented electronic performers today. Often, popular artists take on stage names; for example, you may know Sonny John Moore as Skrillex. Other notable artists in the EDM world include David Guetta, Tiesto, deadmau5, and Swedish House Mafia. You can find them performing in clubs and on stages around the world. Diplo, Daft Punk, and Calvin Harris are other popular household names in the electronic music scene as well. Marshmello is another, known for his signature marshmallow-like helmet.

Noteworthy Electronic Concert Events

Looking for some awesome electronic concerts to attend? With festival culture at an all-time high, EDM remains an extremely popular genre in today’s society. The Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas is one not to be missed and has seen the likes of Afrojack, Hardwell, and more. Miami’s Ultra Music Festival is another big draw for EDM fans, as is New York’s Electric Zoo. Of course, you can often find your favorite EDM artists at smaller venues and in more intimate settings around the globe.

Electronic Concert Schedule Information

For EDM concert information, check out the websites for festivals and particular artists you’re interested in seeing. EDM Train is a popular app for those who want to keep up with what’s new and hot in the EDM world as well. You can also visit EDM Calendar which is a website that posts all the latest shows and raves in a city near you.
