The Caitlin Clark Effect: Prepping for the WNBA Draft

I'm not the only person who picked up a basketball for the first time in years, inspired by the multi-award winning and global phenom Caitlin Clark. Her impact on the sport is something magical and generational, showing millions of kids—regardless of gender—what you can accomplish with hard work and a dream. She's an incredible role model, a vision on the court and the biggest reason the women's NCAA Tournament saw record ratings this year.

Her transition from college ball to the WNBA is today's hottest topic. On top of crushing personal records like career points (3,951), points in a season (1,234), career points per game (28.42), 3-pointers in a season (201), career 3-pointers (548), and several NCAA Tournament records, she's already impacting a league she doesn't play in yet.

The WNBA mock draft has Clark in the #1 spot heading to the Indiana Fever. Feeding into these rumors, the league's national broadcast and streaming partners will feature 36 out of 40 Fever games, a significant uptick from years prior. After finishing last season 13-27, the Fever are hoping for a spot in the playoffs for the first time since 2016. Should the team draft Clark, she'll join last year's No. 1 pick and rookie of the year, Aliyah Boston.

While nothing is certain yet, we'll find out Monday, April 15 at 7:30pm for the 2024 WNBA draft.
