DJ Khaled Details
Born in New Orleans, DJ Khaled is a successful American record producer, radio personality, DJ, record label executive and author. All of this success stemmed from Khaled’s early love of music. His parents, both Palestinian, were musicians and they not only supported, but encouraged Khaled’s love for rap and soul music. Khaled started his career by simply working in record stores; he helped artists including Lil Wayne and Birdman in their early days.
In 1998, Khaled moved to Miami where he started his career in radio, co-hosting with Luther Campbell on The Luke Show on WEDR "99 Jamz". Soon, he dropped the “co” and began hosting his very own radio show at the same station. Rather than choosing to stay behind the microphone in the radio booth, Khaled took a chance and decided he wanted to be on the other end of the antenna. So, in 2006, he released his debut album, "Listennn... the Album", which reached no. 12 on the Billboard 200 charts.
From there, DJ Khaled’s career really took off. Eventually launching his own record label, "We the Best Music Group", he became president of Def Jam South in 2009. In 2010, Khaled's single, "All I Do I Win", featuring Ludacris and Snoop Dogg, went double platinum. In 2017, his tenth studio album, "Grateful", gave rise to his very first no. 1 single, "I'm the One", featuring Justin Bieber and rappers Quavo, Chance the Rapper, and Lil Wayne.
Since his record shop days, Khaled has gone on to work with the likes of Jay-Z, Demi Lovato, Beyoncé, Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj. In 2012, he was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and, in 2017, he was nominated for Best Rap Album.

- I’m the One
- Wild Thoughts
- All I Do Is Win
- I’m So Hood
- Holy Key

DJ Khaled’s Concert
So, what’s it like to see a DJ perform live? It’s not quite like seeing a performer who would sell out a venue like Madison Square Garden. His music isn’t all his own – folks often associate him with the other stars on his tracks. DJ Khaled usually performs at music festivals and other venues (think: Coachella), and he typically has guests join him on stage – like 2 Chainz and French Montana.
