Emperor is a Norwegian black metal band formed in 1991 in Oslo, Norway, and is widely regarded as a pioneer of symphonic black metal. The band was founded by Ihsahn (vocals/guitar) and Samoth (guitar), later joined by drummer Trym Torson.
