About Factory Floor
Factory Floor to play the STRP Festival
What do The Charlatans have to do with Factory Floor? Read on to find out.
Having landed in the Top 10 the first week of February 2015 with their 12 album, "Modern Nature," The Charlatans then turned to Factory Floor's Nik Colk Void to get in touch with their more experimental side.
Void remixed The Charlatans' latest single, "Come Home Baby," released exclusively to the mojo4music.com website. It was described as having a 'warm, booming soul … transformed into a relentless, alarm-like pulse.'
Just a month before, Factory Floor's Gabe Gurnsey also left his mark on another man's tune, remixing "Giudecca" for Ghost Culture, the musical project of 24-year-old Londoner James Greenwood.
Factory Floor were one of the many artists to be spotlighted at last year's Pitchfork Music Festival, which took place at Union Park in Chicago from July 18-20th. The band performed songs like "Turn It Up," "How You Say" and "Fall Back" from their eponymous debut, "Factory Floor."
Though Factory Floor wrapped 2014 in Australia, it didn't slow down for long. Plenty of dates for 2015 are already on the calendar, including shows at Corsica Studios in London on February 28, on March 14 at Sonar Copenhagen in Denmark, at the STRP Festival in Eindhoven, Noord-Brabant on March 21, and at the Nuits Sonores Festival in Lyon on May 13.
A dozen or so acts will play the Dutch STRP Festival. It will take place over nine days, and will feature an 11-hour session at Klokgebouw (a former Philips factory). The Factory Floor on the factory floor. Get your tickets now.
About Factory Floor
Attention music lovers! You're wanted on the Factory Floor for a post-industrial performance of live drums, synthesizers and noise that is utterly hypnotizing.
Don't believe us? Meet the band whose tracks clock in at a healthy eight to 10 minutes, yet never have the feel of something bordering on obsessive repetition. Instead, Dominic Butler, Nik Colk and Gabriel Gurnsey have gained a reputation for music that is a completely immersive experience.
Brit fans got to know them after two singles in 2008, and a mini-album, "Taking On Cliffs" in 2009 put their name on the map. There was also the fact that Stephen Morris later remixed their song "A Wooden Box," and names like Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti of Throbbing Gristle came out as full-fledged supporters. But when U.S. audiences finally got a glimpse and a listen to the metal and thundering drums, they were hooked.
Factory Floor released their highly anticipated debut album "Factory Floor" via DFA Records on September 9, 2013. Said to be a "vivid snapshot of a progressive band, still in the ascendant," the album featured new versions of their previous singles "Two Different Ways" and "Fall Back." The move was one that endeared them to fans, and the band wasted no time in announcing a tour to promote the new project.
The trio, who played New York City back in December, have indeed scheduled their first ever North American tour around appearances at Coachella and Moogfest. They'll also play April 23 at Music Hall of Williamsburg.
