Jersey Boys in New York Details
Go behind the music and discover the untold stories of one of the most celebrated bands in American history, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, in the Tony award-winning musical Jersey Boys. Since its Broadway debut in 2005, Jersey Boys has won numerous awards, grossing millions of dollars as one of the longest-running shows on Broadway. The show has also traveled across the U.S. (including a residency in Las Vegas) and the world (Europe, Asia, Australia) entertaining sold-out audiences. After an impressive twelve-year run on Broadway, Jersey Boys is showing off-Broadway at the New World Stages Theater in New York City.
Jersey Boys is the true-to-life musical based on the story of the popular 60s rock and roll group, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. The musical is told as a documentary and divides the two-act play into four seasons as a clever play on the group’s name. Fans of the music will be treated to live performances of “December 1963 (Oh, What a Night),” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.” Jersey Boys originally premiered at the La Jolla Playhouse in La Jolla, California in 2004 and after a very successful year debuted on Broadway in 2005. Now at New World Stages, the musical has been given the same script and score as the original, but now with a reduced-sized cast, reduced theater size, and reduced ticket prices.
In 2006, after its first year on Broadway, Jersey Boys received eight Tony Award nominations and won four including Best Musical. The following year the musical received a Grammy for Best Show Album. For its Original London Production debut, it received the Laurence Olivier award for Best New Musical. Jersey Boys was also a feature film directed by Clint Eastwood.
New York City, NY has been home for Jersey Boys since its Broadway debut in November 2005, enjoying a 12-year run at the August Wilson Theater. It’s one of the longest running shows on Broadway. This is the first time the New World Stages Theater has hosted the musical.
New World Stages Theater is a Shubert Organization owned and operated theater and event space located between the Times Square and Hell’s Kitchen areas of New York City. The complex boasts five theaters for plays and musicals which makes it one of the premier places to see off-Broadway shows. It features a cocktail bar with themed drinks, a “Green Room” for gathering prior to the show, and an art gallery. Perks include being able to bring your drink inside the theater during performances and ample legroom between rows.
On average, a ticket to see Jersey Boys in New York City will likely run fans a bit more than $100. That said, this figure is an average, and the actual price may vary depending on where you are sitting.
