In the little suburb of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, a star was born on June 5, 1947. Her name was Laurie Anderson, a musician who would become immersed in violin, and then all things art. That would be a foreshadow to her influence on the entertainment industry as she relocated to New York City at the age of 20, attended Barnard College, graduated with a B.A. in art history in 1969, earned an M.F.A. in sculpture at Columbia University in 1972, and even worked as a professor at City College. It was then that she began her public performances only a year later. And the rest was all downhill. When 1981 hit home, a small New York label called 110 Records took on her monumental song 'O Superman,' leading to her major label debut with Warner Bros. Her full-length debut was called Big Science, and it was released in 1982. She followed that one up with 1984's Mister Heartbreak, teaming up with the famous Peter Gabriel and Adrian Belew.
