About Monster Jam Tickets

The first Monster Jam broadcast aired back in 1992 and it has since grown into an international phenomenon. Prior to 1975, folks had never even heard of a monster truck. It wasn’t until a man named Bob Chandler from St. Louis, Missouri decided to build on his Ford pickup truck that the monster truck was born. Chandler’s truck was named “Bigfoot” and by the mid-1980s, him and his truck drew national attention. What started as a hobby for one man is now a billion-dollar industry. Bigfoot was in competition until 1987.

With famous monster trucks including Grave Digger, Maximum Destruction, and Blue Thunder, fans continue to be drawn in these popular trucks and their signature looks and moves. Today, trucks tend to be around 10.5 feet tall, 12.5 feet wide, 17 feet long, and tend to weigh around 12,000 pounds! Celebrities including Chris Pratt, Josh Duhamel, Kendra Wilkinson, Nick Lachey, and more have been known to make appearances at Monster Jam events as well.

Monster Jam differs from other sporting events in that almost every event features a pre-show Pit Party for both fans and competitors to take part in. A ticket to the Pit Party provides the fan with the opportunity to meet the drivers and get autographs or pictures. Another unique feature of Monster Jam is that the audience actually has a hand in judging the competition. That’s right! Using your smartphone, you can score each truck. There’s no other competitive sport that puts scoring into the hands of the fans like this!

What is Monster Jam?

Monster Jam is a motorsport event produced by Feld Entertainment. Events are held throughout the year in locations around the world – from the United States and Canada to Europe and Japan. Monster Jam has gained a significant following worldwide, with fans of all ages enjoying the spectacle and excitement of the shows. Of course, the main attraction of Monster Jam is the competition between monster trucks.

What events take place at Monster Jam?

A Monster Jam competition features a number of high-energy, exciting events. The main three competition types are racing, skills challenges and freestyle.

There are two types of racing events, head-to-head and timed. In head-to-head, two monster trucks race on a track filled with obstacles, and the first truck to cross the finish line wins. In timed races, each monster truck competes individually on the same track, aiming to achieve the fastest time possible. The trucks start one at a time, with a short interval between each run.

Freestyle events are a crowd-favorite. Unlike the more structured racing events, freestyle allows drivers to showcase their creativity, skills, and the power of their monster trucks in a more open-ended and freestyle manner. The driver's objective is to execute the most jaw-dropping and daring maneuvers within the time frame, usually 90 seconds to 2 minutes. Judges score the performances based on a number of factors such as stunt difficulty, creativity, trick variety and air time.

Skills challenges involve drivers performing specialized tasks, like driving over obstacles or performing precise maneuvers, testing the drivers' abilities. Common skills challenges include two-wheel driving, donuts or long jumps.

Monster Jam’s Most Noteworthy Events

Over the years, Monster Jam has seen its fair share of exciting, dramatic, and even deadly events. With so many events happening each year, it’s hard to pin down any one that is most noteworthy. However, each year, the Monster Jam World Finals take place in Las Vegas, Nevada. Over the years, the number of trucks in the finals has steadily increased. Today, 32 trucks are invited to participate in the Monster Jam World Finals.

The two-day finale festivities has seen its fair share of controversy. The final event is invitation-only, so participants don’t necessarily have to have had the best performance scores over the past year. Even so, it’s an event that many folks rally behind each and every year. Trucks can receive a maximum score of 45 during events; the highest score ever received was 40 points by Dennis Anderson in Grave Digger in 2000.
