Rolling Stone proclaims Reignwolf a 'rising star'
You know you've made it when you land in the pages of Rolling Stone magazine under the headline "10 New Artists You Need to Know." In fact, it's even better when you're near the top of the list. In this case, one of the 'rising stars' of the music industry is a guy you'll be hearing a lot more from in the near future.
Reignwolf, Rolling Stone said, sounds like 'an unhinged, lovelorn, electric Canadian blues wildman who can't decide if he wants to be Robert Plant or Jimmy Page.' They also noted that fans should pay attention to Reignwolf's acrobatic antics 'that find him bouncing off bass drums, riding security guards, soloing in the audience, and abusing his guitar.'
One thing is for certain, and it's this – any fan attending a Reignwolf show this summer is certainly going to get their money's worth. He has already packed them in at festivals around the world, playing the stages of Glastonbury and the Southside Festival, just to name a few. And that touring schedule is packed full of dates through the summer, with Reignwolf's return to North America slated for July 15th at The Slowdown in Omaha, Nebraska. He'll hit major stops along the way, including the Newport Folk Festival (July 25th), the Barbary in Philadelphia (July 27th) and the Bowery Ballroom in New York City on August 25th.
The guitarslinging also won over Black Sabbath fans with his raucous antics during a 10-day tour earlier this year, and is still recording songs that may appear on a long-awaited debut album.
Have a howlin' good time with Reignwolf (Created August 22, 2013)
Imagine being two years old, gifted with your very own Fender Stratocaster. That guitar became a constant companion for Jordan Cook, aka Reignwolf, whose love affair with music was obviously sealed at a very young age. He's also described in interviews how that guitar made "the greatest racket ever," something that has become a bit of a catch phrase and synonymous with his current sound.
If you've seen Reignwolf on stage, you know he now picks, slides, pounds and grinds a shiny black Gibson 355. In fact, his explosive live show is what earned him a reputation and ultimately afforded him the chance to leave his home north of the border and travel the world. His guitar went with him to China in 2006, to Europe more recently, and all over North America in between.
Cook has been doing his thing professionally for awhile now, and has an album to show for it. His debut project, "Seven Deadly Sins," was the album he worked on with Seattle-based drummer Matt Chamberlain and Soundgarden's Ben Shepherd. The two industry vets later served as his band on a Canadian tour in support of the album, and he snagged the ears of other established musicians such as Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron.
Yes, Cook has an onstage howl (he probably wouldn't be Reignwolf without it). He also has a brand new single called "Are You Satisfied," which he's been playing at recent live shows during his absolutely blistering rock set. Also known as the honest-to-God gentleman who hugs his fans and signs autographs at every show, we have a feeling he'll be 'Reign-ing' over the music world for years to come.
