Put the name Sean Hayes into a search engine and one thing is likely to happen. Without question, the return results will give you Chicago-born, Emmy Award winning actor. You know, that guy who starred on the long-running sitcom "Will & Grace" and is also heavily known for his work in theater. But there is another Sean Hayes just as notable, and he's been around quite a while.
Seven albums, if you're counting, is what this Sean Hayes has invested into the music business. Beginning with 1999's "A Thousand Tiny Pieces" and culminating with his most recent project "Before We Turn to Dust," Hayes has been doing the singer-songwriter gig to make a living for almost 15 years. He hasn't always been flying solo, of course, kicking off his career playing traditional American and Irish music with a band called the Boys of Bluehill. But it's mostly been the Sean Hayes show since he found his way to San Francisco, where he has lived since 1992.
Among the songs Hayes has become noted for are "F**ked Me Right Up," "Turnaroundturnmeon," "Powerful Stuff," "Rosebush Inside" and "Tossing Away the Keys." Several of them were featured on various television shows, and "Powerful Stuff" was used by Subaru of America as part of its 2011-2012 ad campaign for the Subaru Forester in the "Reunion" commercial.
Hayes, most amusingly, has also dabbled in acting. He made a cameo appearance as Jesus in the film "Evolution: The Musical!," which premiered at the San Francisco International Film Festival in 2008.
