The party in the desert is only a few weeks away and with a few changes to the lineup, there’s a lot to discuss. Weekend one of Coachella takes place April 15-17 and weekend two takes place April 22-24. The festival updated Twitter with the new festival lineup, removing Ye (Kanye West) from the Sunday headlining spot. Let’s take a look at what Coachella 2022 looks like now.

Anyone else have the bridge in “As It Was” stuck in their head thanks to TikTok? Having just announced his third solo record, Harry’s House, and the first single “As It Was,” Harry Styles‘ Coachella performance is a must-see. As of today, the festival will be his first show singing new songs (assuming he plays one or two off the new record).
Styles is a natural commander of stadium and festival-sized stages. His time in One Direction saw the band play iHeartRadio Festival, Apple Music Festival, and plenty of stadium shows. In his solo career, Styles rocks arenas all over the world with the occasional appearance at iHeartRadio Jingle Ball and BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend. And now, he takes the stage at Coachella on Friday, April 15 & 22.
Styles finished his Love On Tour late last year and his only future plans (for now) are releasing a new album in May. We’d be surprised if Styles performed a straightforward set much like Love On Tour. We expect a few special guests (please, Lizzo?) and maybe something production-wise we haven’t seen before.

Before she heads overseas, Billie Eilish ends her U.S. leg of the Happier Than Ever World Tour on music’s biggest stage. Playing on Saturday, April 16 & 23, Eilish is the youngest Coachella headliner. While she sits in the coveted headline spot in 2022, she’s not new to the stage. In 2019, Eilish’s “ruined” performance featured a trip on stage and forgotten lyrics. In her 2021 documentary, The World’s A Little Blurry, she explained how a then-boyfriend caused emotional distress surrounding the performance. Luckily, that boy is out of her life and she’s onto better experiences — one of which will be a redemption Coachella performance (not that she needs one, as she proves on her Happier Than Ever Tour she’s an incredible artist).
We can expect her current tour set but a lot bigger. Eilish is renowned for her larger-than-life production and if she amps it up for Coachella, we’re ready to see the beautifully executed chaos.

In an unsurprising turn of events, Ye (Kanye West) is no longer headlining Sunday, April 17 & 24 of Coachella. It’s uncertain whether Ye made the choice himself or if the festival (and a 50k+ petition) politely encouraged him to step down. As predicted by mostly everyone with an online presence, Ye’s recent media controversies are likely the reason for his leaving.
In his place is the obvious second choice for a Coachella headliner: The Weeknd. Accompanied by Swedish House Mafia who was already slated to headline (though oddly sitting at the bottom of the admat), the two artists will take on the Sunday performances. With the release of two albums (After Hours and Dawn FM) and his 2021 performance at the Super Bowl Half Time Show, The Weeknd is a great alternative to command the big stage. We can expect an over-the-top performance (and maybe a few special guests?).
