The Haunted Tickets - Definitely Not a Scary StoryWay back in the '60s, anyone would've been surprised that Canada could come up with a classic rock band that could measure up to the likes of, say, Jimi Hendrix, or Led Zeppelin. Be surprised. Back in 1965, a musician by the name of Jurgen Peter met up with vocalist Bob Burgess with an idea: let's make a band. A guitarist named Al Birmingham then joined, followed by bass guitarist Glenn Holmes, and then Peter Symes on the drums. The resulting outfit was called The Haunted.
The Haunted Tickets - The Music of The HauntedThe band's first step into the music industry was actually a humble one: they won a Battle of the Bands contest at the Montreal Forum! Their prize for winning it was studio time to record two singles: '1-2-5' and 'Eight O'Clock This Morning.' The music definitely turned heads, even on the U.S. front, stimulating work on more singles and eventually a self-titled debut album in 1967. Probably one of their most iconic singles was a French rendition of Hendrix's 'Purple Haze', entitled 'Vapeur Mauve.'
The Haunted Tickets - The Sound and Style of The HauntedWithout a doubt, they touched on some of the dreamy rock sounds that were so inherent in, for example, Pink Floyd, but you couldn't deny the classic rock feel of this band. Historically, you could name The Haunted as one of the classic bands of the world, hailing directly from Canada.
