Gov Ball is one of those festivals that looks simple on paper and gets complicated fast in real life. It is three days, three stages and a whole lot of New York summer energy, but your weekend can still come down to subway timing, bag rules, set conflicts, food lines and whether your group actually picked a meetup spot before everyone’s phones started dying.
That’s where this guide comes in. Whether you’re going for Lorde on Friday, Stray Kids on Saturday, A$AP Rocky on Sunday or trying to make a full weekend out of it, here’s what to know before you go to Gov Ball 2026, including lineup highlights, set times, transportation, what to pack and the small planning details that can make the difference once you’re inside Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
Gov Ball 2026 takes place Friday, June 5 through Sunday, June 7 at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, New York. The festival’s official hours list gates opening at 11:30 a.m. ET each day and closing at 10 p.m. ET each night.
The basic schedule is straightforward: Friday, June 5, Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7, with music running across the day and into the evening. The part fans should not underestimate is the morning start. Gates open before noon, which means early arrival is not just for people trying to be on the rail. It is also the best way to handle entry, food, merch and your first lap around the grounds before the biggest crowds settle in.
Gov Ball is not a late-night festival. The headliners wrap by 10 p.m., which makes the day feel more compressed than festivals that stretch past midnight. If your first must-see set is in the late afternoon, it can be tempting to show up late. The better move is to get there early enough to learn the layout, eat before peak lines and make a loose plan before the evening run starts.
The Gov Ball lineup is built for fans who want a little bit of everything without leaving New York City. The 2026 bill spans pop, hip-hop, K-pop, indie, rock, R&B and dance across more than 60 artists and three stages.
The 2026 headliners are Lorde on Friday, Stray Kids on Saturday and A$AP Rocky on Sunday. The broader lineup also includes Baby Keem, Kali Uchis, Jennie, KATSEYE, Geese, Major Lazer, Pierce The Veil, Dominic Fike, Blood Orange, Clipse, Mariah The Scientist, Wet Leg, Amyl and The Sniffers, Freddie Gibbs & The Alchemist, The Dare, 2hollis, Ravyn Lenae and more.
The official app matters more than people think. Gov Ball’s official FAQ says Festiverse is the festival’s app, and the festival site also links directly to the app from its main navigation.
A smart move is to build a first-pass schedule before the weekend, then make a backup version that assumes at least one conflict, one food run and one slow cross-festival walk. That sounds overly cautious until you’re trying to choose between an artist your friend loves and the set you have been waiting months to see.
Gov Ball 2026 takes place at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, with more than 60 artists performing across three stages: Verizon, Snapchat and The Grove. The stage names are mostly there to help you navigate the festival grounds and follow the daily schedule, but each stage also tends to have its own rhythm throughout the weekend.
Verizon is the main stage for 2026 and where you’ll find the biggest closing sets of the weekend, including Lorde on Friday, Stray Kids on Saturday and A$AP Rocky on Sunday. It also hosts major daytime and evening acts like KATSEYE, Major Lazer, Wet Leg, Dominic Fike, Geese and Holly Humberstone.
Snapchat is another major stage with some of the weekend’s biggest non-headliner sets, including Baby Keem, Pierce The Veil, Kali Uchis, Blood Orange, Jennie, Japanese Breakfast and Clipse. It’s a stage worth watching if you’re trying to balance big-name performances with a slightly different mix of pop, hip-hop, rock and indie acts.
The Grove rounds out the 2026 stage lineup and features a lot of the weekend’s discovery-friendly sets, genre standouts and fan-favorite bands. This year, that includes artists like Amyl and the Sniffers, Flipturn, The Beths, Freddie Gibbs & The Alchemist, Hot Mulligan, FCUKERS, Thee Sacred Souls and more.
Since set times overlap, the easiest way to plan your weekend is to pick your must-see artists first, then note which stage they’re playing. If two performances are close together, check the map ahead of time so you know whether you’ll need to move from Verizon to Snapchat or make your way over to The Grove between sets.
If you are trying to plan your day without sprinting across the park, the most useful way to read Gov Ball’s schedule is by time block. Music starts around midday, the bigger undercard names stack up in the late afternoon and the headliners close each night.
Friday is the pop and alternative-heavy opener, with Lorde closing the night and a strong run from Mariah The Scientist, Pierce The Veil, KATSEYE and Baby Keem leading into the headliner. Here is the current Friday schedule.

Pro tip: Use the SeatGeek app to compare and lock in ticket options before the festival, then switch to the official Gov Ball app to track set times, stage assignments and any last-minute schedule changes during the weekend.
Gov Ball is one of the easiest major festivals to reach by public transit, while rideshare and biking also available. Most fans should plan around the 7 train or LIRR to Mets-Willets Point, which puts you within walking distance of the festival entrance.
The 7 train and LIRR are the most straightforward ways to get to and from Gov Ball. Both serve Mets-Willets Point, which puts you within walking distance of the festival entrance. The 7 train is the better default for many fans coming from Manhattan, Queens or Brooklyn connections, while LIRR can be a faster option if you’re coming from Penn Station, Grand Central or Long Island. Gov Ball notes that LIRR service to Mets-Willets Point runs from Penn and Grand Central, while the 7 train can be accessed from Hudson Yards, Times Square, Grand Central and other 7 line stops.
After the headliner, expect packed trains, longer waits and rideshare surge pricing. If you’re taking LIRR, check return times before the final set so you know whether you need to leave quickly or have time to wait out the crowd. If you’re using rideshare, follow the festival’s official rideshare routing to the NY Hall of Science pickup/drop-off area instead of trying to improvise a pickup near the main gate. Screenshot your transit route, rideshare pickup area and festival map before the end of the night, and build in extra buffer after the final set because thousands of fans will be leaving at the same time.
There is no parking available at Flushing Meadows Corona Park, so most fans should plan around public transit, rideshare, biking or walking. Gov Ball recommends the 7 train or LIRR to Mets-Willets Point for rail access.
Post-headliner gridlock in the parking areas can add an hour or more to your exit. Transit is the better call for most situations.
June in New York City means heat, humidity and the possibility of an afternoon thunderstorm rolling through with almost no warning. The goal is packing light enough to move through security quickly but prepared enough to handle a full day outdoors on open park grounds.
Mobile ticket and valid ID
Portable phone charger or power bank
Empty reusable water bottle or hydration pack (if allowed)
Sunscreen
Sunglasses
Hat or cap
Earplugs (especially for front-of-stage positioning)
Light rain jacket or packable poncho
Comfortable, broken-in shoes
Small clear bag or compliant festival bag
Gov Ball says small clutches and fanny packs 6" x 9" or smaller do not need to be clear, but can have no more than one pocket. Other bags larger than 6" x 9" must be clear and smaller than 12" x 6" x 12". Hydration packs are allowed, do not need to be clear, must be emptied of liquid and can have no more than two main compartments and one smaller compartment. All bags are searched at entry, and oversized or non-compliant bags will be turned away at the gate.
Check the official website for the most current bag policy before packing.
The following items are commonly prohibited at Gov Ball:
Outside food or beverages
Large backpacks exceeding the size limit
Professional cameras or detachable lenses
Drones
Weapons of any kind
Glass containers
Umbrellas
Folding chairs
Coolers
Illegal substances
Aerosol products
Pets (except service animals)
Gov Ball is known for curating a food vendor lineup that features local NYC restaurants and food brands — not generic festival fare. Options typically span tacos, dumplings, pizza, barbecue and more spread across the grounds.
Planning food breaks during lower-conflict time slots means you're not choosing between dinner and a set you've been waiting all day to see. Key amenities across the festival grounds include:
Food vendors: Local NYC restaurants and pop-ups
Bars and beverage stations: Spread throughout the grounds
Water refill stations: Free refill points throughout the festival grounds.
Cashless payment: Credit, debit and mobile wallet accepted
Merchandise: Official Gov Ball merch and artist merch tents
Lockers: Rental lockers available for bags and valuables
Medical and first aid: Stations staffed throughout the festival
ADA/accessibility services: Designated viewing areas and guest services
Gov Ball uses cashless payments, so bring a credit card, debit card or mobile wallet and make sure your phone is charged before entering.
A charged phone is essential — you'll rely on it for payments, your mobile ticket and the festival app all day.
Free water stations are available throughout the festival, and secure lockers with charging capabilities are available for rent. Gov Ball allows empty reusable water bottles, hydration packs, plastic or aluminum water bottles and factory-sealed hydration/electrolyte packets.
Gov Ball ticket holders may enter and exit once each day, meaning there is no same-day re-entry after leaving.
Where you stay shapes your entire Gov Ball weekend. Flushing Meadows is in Queens, well-connected to Manhattan and other boroughs by subway, so you have real options depending on your budget and how late you want to stay for closing sets.
Flushing / Corona, Queens: Closest to the venue with budget-friendly hotels and incredible local food
Midtown Manhattan: Easy 7 train access, wide hotel selection, best for first-time NYC visitors
Long Island City / Astoria, Queens: Close to the venue with trendy restaurants and good transit connections
Downtown Brooklyn: Slightly longer commute but great nightlife and dining for post-festival evenings
Booking early matters. NYC hotel inventory around major summer events moves fast, and short-term rentals in Queens can offer better value than Manhattan hotels for multi-night stays.
The difference between a great Gov Ball weekend and a frustrating one usually comes down to small decisions made before you walk through the gates.
Arrive at least 30 minutes before your first priority set — security lines build quickly on headliner days
Download the official Gov Ball app before you leave home and save your priority artists
Screenshot your ticket, schedule and venue map — cell service inside the grounds is unreliable
Pick a group meetup spot that isn't directly in front of a stage (a food vendor or entrance gate works well)
Bring a fully charged portable battery — a dead phone at a cashless festival creates real problems
Wear shoes you've already broken in; new sneakers on a full festival day is a rookie mistake
Plan food and water breaks during low-conflict time slots
Check the NYC weather forecast the morning of each day — June storms can roll in fast
Know your exit route before the headliner ends
Don't count on calling a rideshare from the main gate — walk a few blocks first
The difference between watching Gov Ball clips on your phone Monday morning and actually being in the crowd at Flushing Meadows Corona Park when the headliner opens is not something a screen can replicate. Locking in your tickets early gives you the room to book travel, coordinate with friends and build out your full weekend without worrying about availability shrinking as the festival gets closer.
