The Descendents are a pioneering American punk rock band that formed in Manhattan-Beach/Hermosa-Beach, California in the late 1970s. The core lineup came to include vocalist Milo Aukerman, drummer Bill Stevenson, guitarist Stephen Egerton and bassist Karl Alvarez (among others across eras). Their sound blended hardcore punk speed with catchy melodies, youth-angst lyricism, and a strong DIY ethic. Over decades, they became highly influential—especially to pop-punk and melodic hardcore bands.

The Descendents' most recently released full studio album is 9th & Walnut, which came out July 23, 2021. Additionally, the band has indicated they have over 25 new songs recorded and hope to release an LP in 2026.
