About Dirty Rotten Imbeciles
Though the Dirty Rotten Imbeciles (also known as D.R.I.) have been around for more than 18 years they never gained a mainstream audience. The band formed in Houston in 1982 before relocating to San Francisco in 1983 where they lived in their van in between shows. Their music is a mix of hardcore punk roots with thrash metal influences. They even coined a sub-genre crossover thrash from their most popular album Crossover that was released in 1987. D.R.I. is appropriately defined as the major band of the crossover movement. Their last album was released in 1995. Since then many of their old albums have been re-released including Crossover (Millennium Edition,) The Dirty Rotten EP, The Dirty Rotten LP, Violent Pacification, and Dealing With It.
