Fatboy Slim, David Byrne taking musical on the road
For the last several years, Fatboy Slim has been making a name for himself with some pretty big performances. Now he's putting his name on a different kind of work.
Since 2013, Fatboy Slim has made his mark at the likes of the Ultra Music Festival, Wavefront Music Festival, Exit Festival, Bestival and the Glastonbury Festival (where he played as a special guest on the Wow! And Arcadia stages).
On March 6, 2013, Fatboy Slim also played at the House of Commons in Westminster, London. The event not only marked the first time that a DJ had ever performed there, the performance was in support of the Last Night A DJ Saved My Life Foundation, which is aimed at encouraging 16 to 25-year-olds to get more involved in their communities through grassroot initiatives and to raise awareness for community music projects.
In May 2014, Fatboy Slim also played in Essex at the We Are FSTVL and was the biggest name on the bill, playing for nearly two hours to a rowdy crowd.
Now it's been learned that Fatboy Slim and Talking Heads founding member David Byrne are taking their A ROCK musical on the road. The performance, which will tell the story of will visit Australia in 2015
The show follows the story of former Philippines first lady Imelda Marcos and the woman who raised her, Estrella Cumpas. It is slated to be performed at Barangaroo as part of Sydney's VIVID festival.
Fatboy Slim gets the gig of a lifetime (Updated June 13, 2013)
On February 12, 2013 it was announced that DJ and record producer Fatboy Slim would play the gig of a lifetime, having been booked to perform at the Terrace Bar of the House of Commons in support of an initiative which aims to raise awareness of community music.
Originally set to spin discs alongside the winner of the House the House DJ competition, an event that serves as a showcase for new talent, Slim called the gig his "most unique to date." It was organized by the Last Night a DJ Saved My Life Foundation and hosted by House The House, a parliamentary charity which encourages young dance enthusiasts to get more involved in their communities through grassroots initiatives.
The announcement came just one day after Fatboy Slim's return visit to RockNess was also confirmed. He appeared as a "very special guest" for the June 7-9 festival alongside names like Madness, The Vaccines, Basement Jaxx, Example, Bombay Bicucle Club, The Mccabees, Jessie Ware and Ellie Goulding, among others.
But that wasn't the only thing going down in Scotland during the event. Fatboy Slim also used his appearance at the festival to pay tribute to a fan killed in a car crash before the event in 2010. During the set, pictures of Ian Buchanan were beamed onto a big screen. Fatboy Slim also dedicated his anthem, "Right Here, Right Now" to the man who was killed just 10 days before his 23rd birthday.
That this is all happening some 17 years after the birth of the Fatboy Slim moniker speaks to its longevity. In 2000 came his third studio album, "Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars." It featured a large number of guest contributors, including Macy Gray on two separate tracks -- "Love Life" and "Demons." Still, the album received mixed reviews from critics, with several suggesting the fun and energizing highs of Fatboy Slim's previous recordings were gone. The most successful song on the project was "Weapon of Choice," which was made into an award-winning video starring Christopher Walken. At the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards, Fatboy Slim won six awards for the song, the most awards at the ceremony.
Fatboy Slim's last two albums, 2004's "Palookaville" and 2010's "Here Lies Love" (with David Byrne) wren't as popular, and at one point he was looking for a new name with which to release his next album. He came back strong in 2012, performing at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami and at the London Olympic Closing Ceremony.

And he's also known as the mastermind behind _Fatboy Slim.
Fatboy Slim Tickets - The Music of Fatboy Slim
Fatboy Slim's first album was Better Living Through Chemistry, a trippy style of music that infected people's ears and would never leave. It seemed destined for the artist to release another album; he did. It was called You've Come a Long Way, Baby, and that album went platinum, spawning the two worldwide hits that, for sure, everyone heard about -- 'The Rockafeller Skank' and 'Praise You.' Even the video for 'The Rockafeller Skank,' directed by the indomitable Spike Jonze, earned Fatboy Slim three MTV Video Music Awards and two Grammy nominations.
