Khruangbin is a three-piece band based in Houston, Texas, consisting of Laura Lee Ochoa (bass), Mark Speer (guitar), and Donald “DJ” Johnson (drums). They’re known for creating mostly instrumental music that blends psychedelic rock, funk, soul, surf, and global influences — especially taking inspiration from Thai funk, dub, and ambient soundscapes. Over the years, they’ve built a reputation for understated sonic complexity and a distinctive, mellow groove.

Khruangbin's most recent studio album is A La Sala, released on April 5, 2024 via Dead Oceans and Night Time Stories. This is their fourth full-length studio album and the first one they recorded without outside collaborators. The title, which translates roughly to “to the room” (in Spanish), reflects the more intimate, pared-back approach the band took in crafting it. The album centers on a return to minimal, groove-oriented instrumental textures — a conscious move inward after more expansive productions.
