Modest Mouse is an American indie rock band formed in 1993 in Issaquah, Washington, led by frontman Isaac Brock. Known for their jagged guitar lines, inventive rhythms, and introspective, literate lyrics, they rose from the 1990s Pacific Northwest indie scene to broader recognition. Their early albums such as This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About and The Lonesome Crowded West helped define the indie rock landscape, while later records brought them mainstream success. The band’s catalogue includes cult favorites, inventive experimental work, and radio-friendly hits like “Float On.”

Modest Mouse’s most recent full studio album is The Golden Casket, released in June 2021. The album continues the band’s exploration of textured, alternative sounds and features a mix of sprawling instrumentation and Brock’s distinctive vocals. It follows their 2015 release Strangers to Ourselves and showcases their evolution while retaining the unpredictable energy that has defined their career.
