Robert Plant preps for Led Zeppelin Reunion? (Updated 12/20/13)

The charismatic English songwriter Robert Plant is a Grammy Award winner and was the dashing lead singer of Led Zeppelin. Yet he's also had an extremely successful solo career that has spanned decades, and his trademark high-pitched vocals have never waned.

Considered one of the greatest singers in the history of rock and roll, Plant has been named by the heavy metal magazine Hit Parader as the "Greatest metal Vocalist of All Time." He's also been called "the greatest voice in rock," and in 2008 Rolling Stone put him at No. 15 on their list of the 100 greatest singers of all time. Three years later, the magazine's readers put him first on the list.

Though Plant helmed Led Zeppelin for 12 years, the band was fractured by the death of drummer John Bonham (who died as a result of alcohol poisoning in 1980). Nine albums into a career that had pushed them to the upper echelon of rock, Led Zeppelin was no more. And though Bonham's death hit Plant hard, it was also the catalyst to Plant's eventual solo debut.

What do you say about a career that has included nine albums and four collaborative albums, including the fantastic "Raising Sand" with bluegrass icon Alison Krauss in 2007? Plant revived the name of his very first band, Band of Joy, in 2010 for his self-titled "Band of Joy" release, which is his latest released work available to the public.

Plant most recently toured with his new band, The Sensational Space Shifters, and has hinted he would be open to a Led Zeppelin reunion in 2014.
