Who is Snarky Puppy?

Snarky Puppy is an American instrumental collective founded around 2003–2004 by bassist and composer Michael League while he was studying at the University of North Texas. Over time, the band has grown into a rotating ensemble of musicians known as “The Fam,” pulling in talent from jazz, funk, R&B, gospel, and world music traditions. Their approach often involves recording “live in the room” with an audience, blurring the lines between concert and studio, and emphasizing spontaneity, groove, and rich, layered arrangements.

What is Snarky Puppy's latest album?

Snarky Puppy's latest major release is Empire Central (2022), recorded live over several days in Dallas before a studio audience. This album is a tribute to the city’s musical legacy, especially its gospel and R&B roots, and features contributions from many members beyond just League.
