The Beths are an indie-rock band from Auckland, New Zealand, formed by vocalist/lead guitarist Elizabeth “Liz” Stokes alongside Jonathan Pearce (guitar), Benjamin Sinclair (bass), and Tristan Deck (drums). They’re known for jangly guitars, tight melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and a mix of emotional depth with hook-driven energy that’s earned them a dedicated global following over the past decade.

The Beths' latest album, Straight Line Was a Lie, was released on August 29, 2025. It is the band's fourth studio album. The record expands on the band’s signature indie-rock sound with introspective, personal lyricism exploring growth, resilience, and the nonlinear nature of life’s journey — reflected in the title’s metaphor about there being no straight path forward.
