About The Lemonheads Tickets

The Lemonheads formed in 1986 in Boston, Massachusetts, originally as a punk-influenced band by high school friends Evan Dando, Ben Deily and Jesse Peretz. Initially part of the underground college rock scene, they released several independent albums on the small label Taang! Records, showcasing a raw, melodic punk sound. Dando eventually became the band’s central figure after Deily’s departure, and The Lemonheads gradually shifted toward a more polished alternative rock and power pop sound, which helped broaden their appeal in the early 1990s.

The band’s biggest breakthrough came in 1992 with the release of It’s a Shame About Ray, a critically acclaimed album that featured jangly guitar melodies and introspective lyrics. The album’s title track and their cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Mrs. Robinson” received major airplay on both radio and MTV, solidifying their place in the alternative rock boom of the decade. Dando’s boyish charm and grunge-era charisma also made him a reluctant heartthrob and face of the band, despite various lineup changes over the years.

Throughout the ‘90s, The Lemonheads released several more albums, including Come On Feel the Lemonheads in 1993, which spawned the hit single “Into Your Arms.” Although internal struggles and Dando’s personal battles led to the band’s hiatus in the late 1990s, The Lemonheads have reunited multiple times since, releasing new material and touring regularly. Despite never reaching the commercial heights of some of their alt-rock peers, their influence remains strong, with their blend of punk energy and pop hooks leaving a lasting mark on indie and alternative music.

The Lemonheads are a Boston-based alternative rock band formed in 1986 by Evan Dando, Ben Deily and Jesse Peretz. Originally rooted in punk and college rock, signing to Taang! Records—they evolved into a melodic alt-rock powerhouse. Their breakthrough came in 1992 with It’s a Shame About Ray, and Dando has remained the only consistent member since the early ‘90s lineup changes.

Their first original studio album in nearly 19 years, Love Chant, is set to be released on October 24, 2025, via Fire Records. It was produced by Apollo Nove in Brazil and features collaborators like J Mascis, Juliana Hatfield, Adam Green and Tom Morgan.

  • Lead single: “In The Margin," described by Dando as a “full-on 8th‑grade girl revenge song"

  • Two earlier preview tracks: “Deep End” and “Sad Cinderella”
