About The Strokes Tickets
The Strokes formed in New York City in 1998, when lead singer Julian Casablancas brought together a group of childhood friends and music school classmates: guitarist Nick Valensi, guitarist Albert Hammond Jr., bassist Nikolai Fraiture and drummer Fabrizio Moretti. Their raw, garage rock sound stood in contrast to the glossy pop dominating the airwaves at the time, quickly earning them a cult following in the city's underground scene. Their early gigs at iconic NYC venues like Mercury Lounge and CBGB helped them build buzz, leading to a record deal with RCA.
The band’s 2001 debut album, Is This It, was a game-changer. With its lo-fi production and infectious hooks, the album was heralded as a revival of rock music and is widely regarded as one of the most influential albums of the 2000s. Songs like “Last Nite” and “Someday” became instant classics and helped usher in a wave of other garage rock and post-punk revival acts. The Strokes’ effortless cool and gritty aesthetic made them style icons as well, cementing their place in early 2000s culture.
Over the years, The Strokes have continued to evolve their sound across multiple albums, including Room on Fire (2003), First Impressions of Earth (2006) and Angles (2011). After a brief hiatus, they returned to critical acclaim with The New Abnormal in 2020, which won the Grammy for Best Rock Album. Despite side projects and shifting trends, The Strokes have remained a defining force in indie rock—celebrated for their impact, longevity and ability to capture the restless energy of a new generation.
