About Washed Out
Ernest Greene is Washed Out
Ernest Greene let his mind wander. The result was "Paracosm," the second full-length album from the artist who officially goes by the moniker "Washed Out." The truth is, he is anything but.
Creative avenues aren't just something Greene pursues, they're something he's quite passionate about exploring. That's why his new material has more involved arrangements, sounds of a more distressed quality and an almost otherworldly feel to the material thanks to the use of older keyboards, harps and vibraphones.
All of this comes on the heels of Washed Out's critically acclaimed debut, "Within and Without." And way after Greene obtained a Master of Library and Information and Science degree from The University of Georgia. And way way after he was producing songs in a bedroom studio while still living with his parents.
Indeed, those times are long ago and far away. It took two EPs and one performance in New York City (only his second live show ever) at Santos Party House before a lot of people knew Greene's name. He moved on to bigger and better venues, like playing the Pitchfork Music Festival and the ATP Nightmare Before Christmas festival.
"Paracosm" was released on August 13, 2013 on Sub Pop records. The first single was "It Feels All Right," followed by "Don't Give Up." Their current tour will run through South Korea, China, the Philippines and Singapore before returning to North America. They have dates scheduled stateside beginning March 21 in San Antonio, Texas. The group will also play Coachella in April.
