That is an Eagles Sunday at the Linc. The stadium sits in the middle of the South Philly Sports Complex, where the bars fill early, the lots turn green and the noise starts building long before the teams come out.

By kickoff, more than 70,000 fans are packed inside and “E-A-G-L-E-S” is coming from every corner of the building.

You are arriving in a part of the city built for major crowds, with SEPTA, parking lots and sports bars all packed into the same few blocks.

Getting to Lincoln Financial Field

SEPTA is usually the easiest way in from Center City. Take the B line south to NRG Station, get off at the last stop and follow the crowd through the Sports Complex to the Linc. For the biggest home games, SEPTA may add extra service, including the B2 Sports Express.

If you are driving, there are public lots all over the complex, including A/B/G/H, C/D, D/E, FDR, F/G/H, M/N, P, Q, R/W/X, T/S and U/V. Lots J, K and L are reserved.

Parking currently runs $50 for a standard vehicle and $100 for an oversized one. Some lots require a prepaid pass or use a specific entrance, so check the details on your pass before you get close to South Philly.

The lots usually open four and a half hours before kickoff, which gives tailgaters plenty of time to settle in. Getting out is less predictable. Philadelphia Police may send you home a different way than you came in, so follow the signs and officers instead of trying to force your GPS route.

Rideshare is fine on the way there. After the game, it can be a headache. If the pickup area is jammed, walking toward NRG Station or grabbing a drink or bite nearby while the first wave clears out can save you some frustration.

What first-timers need to know before an Eagles game at Lincoln Financial Field

Start around HeadHouse Plaza before you head to your seat. The Chuck Bednarik stairs honor “Concrete Charlie,” and the surrounding entrances and concourses are covered with Eagles murals and artwork, so it is one of the better places to slow down and look around on a first trip.

Pepsi Plaza on the north side is worth another stop. It is one of the main gathering spots before kickoff, with a large video board, food and drinks, the Eagles Pro Shop and the Miller Lite Tailgate Zone all in the same area.

You can also look for the Bud Light Eagles Nest in the northwest corner of the stadium. It is one of the more recognizable spots inside the Linc and helps give that end of the building its own feel.

Philadelphia Eagles game-day traditions

“Fly, Eagles Fly” is the big one. The fight song comes after every Eagles touchdown, and when the stadium gets to “E-A-G-L-E-S, Eagles!” everybody joins in. If it is your first game at the Linc, you will hear it enough to know exactly when your part is coming.

Before kickoff, watch for the bald eagle during the national anthem. The bird flies through the stadium and lands on the field, which is about as Eagles as a pregame tradition can get.

Best places to sit for a Philadelphia Eagles game at Lincoln Financial Field

The right seat at the Linc depends on what matters most to you. Some fans want to be close to the Eagles sideline and others just want a good view without blowing the budget.

Best premium seats

The Firstrust Bank Club is the best premium pick if you want one of the best seats in the Linc without moving into a suite. Every seat is in Section 101, right around midfield behind the Eagles sideline, so you are close to the bench with an excellent view across the field.

The club access is what makes the upgrade feel worth it. Premium food and a top-shelf open bar are included inside a private 9,000-square-foot space, giving you somewhere to eat before kickoff, grab a drink at halftime and warm up during a cold-weather game.

The President’s Club is the better choice for a group that wants more privacy. The suites are along the west sideline, typically hold around 14 to 18 guests and include food, drinks and access to a shared lounge with private restrooms and a fireplace.

Best lower-level view

Sections 101 and 102 put you near midfield behind the Eagles sideline, while 120 and 121 give you a similar spot behind the visitors. These are the lower-level seats to target if you want to be close to the benches without losing sight of what is happening across the rest of the field.

If the prices right at midfield jump, move a section or two over. Sections 103 and 104 on the Eagles side and 118 and 119 on the visitor side keep you close to midfield without paying strictly for the 50-yard line.

Do not automatically assume the first few rows are best. Sitting a little farther back helps you see over the players, coaches and equipment along the sideline, which can make the game much easier to watch.

Best upper-level value

Sections 201 through 204 on the Eagles side and 223 through 226 across the field are a strong place to start. From up there, you can see the whole field without feeling stuck in one end or one corner.

The first few rows are especially worth a look if the price jump is small. You keep the upper-level view without feeling quite as far from the field.

Best seats for atmosphere

For pure noise, the north end zone is hard to beat. Sections 128 through 131 sit near Pepsi Plaza and the Bud Light Eagles Nest, and when the Eagles get close to the goal line, that end of the Linc gets chaotic.

The first two rows are Red Zone Seats, which come with extras like pregame sideline passes and halftime access to the Red Zone Lounges.

Sections 109 through 112 bring the same kind of energy on the south end. The view is not as balanced as midfield, but when the Eagles are coming straight at your end zone, it is hard to beat.

Near Section 107, the Miller Lite Phlite Deck is another option for fans who would rather move around, grab a drink and stay in the middle of the crowd than spend every snap planted in one seat.

Best seats for families

Section 217 is the easiest family pick at the Linc because it is the stadium’s alcohol-free section. It is upstairs on the south side, but for parents bringing younger kids, having a section without alcohol service right around the seats can make the day a lot easier.

It also helps to know where Guest Services is. Booths behind Sections 121, 136, 206 and 226 can handle first-game certificates, Safe in the Seat bracelets and anything else that comes up once you are inside.

Best seats for opposing fans

There is no official away section at the Linc, but Sections 118 through 123 put you right behind the visiting sideline and close to the road bench.

If you want to spend less, Sections 223 through 228 keep you on the same side from the upper level. Visiting fans will be spread throughout the stadium, but these are the sections to target if being near your team’s sideline is the priority.

Best food options inside Lincoln Financial Field

The Linc is one of those stadiums where it is worth walking past the first generic stand you see. Philly staples are all over the building, from CrabFries and cheesesteaks to roast pork, soft pretzels and water ice.

If it is your first Eagles game, Chickie’s & Pete’s is an easy call for CrabFries. Tony Luke’s is the better move if you want something more filling, especially the roast pork Italian, and Rita’s makes a lot more sense during a warm September game than it does in December.

Best places to tailgate near Lincoln Financial Field

For the classic Eagles parking-lot tailgate, look first at Lots A through G or M, N and P around the Sports Complex. Getting there when the lots open gives bigger groups more time to park, unpack the grill and settle in before the crowd builds. Lots generally open four and a half hours before kickoff.

Another big thing to know is where not to go. Tailgating is not allowed in Lots Q through W, north of Pattison Avenue and west of Darien Street, or in the lot near the Jefferson Health Training Complex. Check the parking map before buying a pass so you do not end up in a lot where the grill has to stay packed.

Once you are parked, keep the setup tight to your space. Grills, folding tables, coolers and games cannot block the driving lanes, and some reserved lots may inspect vehicles on the way in.

No parking pass does not mean missing the pregame scene. Pepsi Plaza opens inside the ticketed area with a giant video board, food and drinks, the Eagles Pro Shop and the Miller Lite Tailgate Zone. Just finish any parking-lot plans first because once your ticket is scanned, you generally cannot head back outside.

Pregame and postgame options near Lincoln Financial Field

Stateside Live! is the easiest option if you want to stay right in the Sports Complex. It is walkable from the Linc, has multiple bars and plenty of TVs, and usually fills up early on Eagles Sundays. If this is the pregame stop, get there with time to spare rather than trying to squeeze in one quick drink before kickoff.

Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia is a good fallback if you want more than one option in the same place. Sports & Social works for drinks and TVs before kickoff, The Prime Rib is better for a proper dinner, and 10th Street Market is the quick stop for things like Geno’s and Lorenzo & Sons. It also works well after the game if you would rather hang around for a bit than head straight into traffic.

For something that feels more like a classic Philly sports bar, head to Chickie’s & Pete’s on Packer Avenue. It is especially worth considering if you would rather eat before the game than rely on stadium food.
