About Christopher Cross Tickets
Christopher Cross is an American singer-songwriter best known for his smooth, melodic soft rock sound that defined the late 1970s and early 1980s. Born Christopher Charles Geppert in San Antonio, Texas, he developed an early interest in music and began playing guitar and writing songs as a teenager. After studying at the University of Texas at Austin, he became active in the local music scene, performing with bands and honing his songwriting craft. His big break came when he signed a record deal in the late 1970s, just as adult contemporary and yacht rock were gaining mainstream popularity.
Cross achieved massive success with his self-titled debut album released in 1979, which became one of the most celebrated debuts in music history. The album featured timeless hits like “Sailing,” “Ride Like the Wind,” and “Never Be the Same,” showcasing his rich vocals, polished production, and introspective lyrics. At the 1981 Grammy Awards, Christopher Cross made history by winning five Grammy Awards in one night, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best New Artist — a feat that cemented his place in pop music history.
Throughout the 1980s, Cross continued to release successful albums and chart-topping singles, including “Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do),” which became his second No. 1 hit and won an Academy Award for Best Original Song. While musical trends shifted later in the decade, Cross maintained a dedicated fan base and continued touring internationally. In recent years, he has experienced a renewed appreciation as part of the yacht rock revival, with his songs embraced by new generations of listeners. His enduring catalog and record-breaking achievements have secured Christopher Cross’s legacy as one of the most influential soft rock artists of his era.
Christopher Cross is embarking on a 2026 tour.
Christopher Cross's 2026 tour will run from February 27, 2026 through March 27, 2026.
On his 2026 tour, Christopher Cross will visit major cities including Pensacola, Bloomington, Memphis, and more.
Christopher Cross is an American singer-songwriter known for his smooth soft-rock sound and massive success in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Born Christopher Charles Geppert in San Antonio, Texas, he rose to fame with polished, melodic songs that became staples of adult contemporary and yacht rock. He is best known for hits like “Sailing,” “Ride Like the Wind,” and “Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do).” Cross made Grammy history in 1981 by winning five major awards in one night, including Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist, cementing his place as one of the most successful debut artists of all time.
Christopher Cross’s most recent studio album is Take Me as I Am, released in 2011. The album marked a return to his signature melodic songwriting while incorporating more contemporary production elements. Since then, Cross has focused primarily on touring, live performances, and special collaborative projects rather than releasing new full-length studio albums.
