Is a New Perfect Circle Album in the Works? (Updated 12/20/13)
When A Perfect Circle reunited, it never expected the feverish response by fans. Nor would any members of the band ignore it. In fact, the current incarnation of the band would never ignore it. That's why James Iha, Matt McJunkins, Jeff Freidl, Billy Howerdel and Maynard James Keenan have been busier than ever.
On November 19, 2013, the band released a greatest hits album entitled "Three Sixty," which contained the new song "By and Down." They followed it just a week later with a box set called "A Perfect Circle Live: Featuring Stone and Echo." That collection of music is as unique as the band name, with live recreations of their studio albums, "Mer de Noms," "Thirteenth Step," and "eMOTIVe," as well as an entire live performance that was filmed and recorded at Red Rocks in Colorado.
The aforementioned special edition was limited to just 2,500 physical copies, which sold out at $150 a piece. It then released in a digital format available to all fans.
On the subject, it stands to mention that A Perfect Circle hasn't come out with a proper studio album of new songs in a decade. However, the band seems ready and willing to hit the studio again when the time comes. In the meantime, they're hitting nationally syndicated radio again. The guys were featured guests on ROCKLINE with host Bob Coburn on Monday, December 9, 2013. Howerdel even took questions live on the air from fans, and the broadcast was available to stream on the Rockline website for two weeks beginning the next day.
A Perfect Circle Post-Reunion (Updated December 11, 2012)
Looking to put the band's name back in the headlines, A Perfect Circle made its first big media appearance since their reunion on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on October 27, 2010. They followed that up with a trip to the stage of NBC's "Last Call with Carson Daly" a few weeks later, along with fulfilling other media obligations.
The band took it act out of the studio and back on the road for 2011, announcing in late March they had planned a North American Tour that would play in 24 cities. Four of those dates included stops at the rock on the Range Festival in Ohio, the Boonstock Music Festival in Edmonton, Edgefest in Toronto and Bluesfest in Ottawa. Along the way the band road-tested new songs they said could ultimately be included on a future studio album.
On June 29, 2011 the band debuted a new song called "By and Down" during a show in Portland, Oregon. It was around this time that the band made a statement that they would not be releasing another full album, but rather would release individual songs that would eventually be put together in a collection.
A Perfect Circle wrapped 2011 by performing at the Kanrocksas Music festival and also at Lollapalooza. In August 2012, the band confirmed it would be touring Australia in early 2013 as part of the Soundwave Festival, and had also made plans to play dates in South America. In October 2012, they were confirmed for Lollapalooza Chile, which will host more than 100,000 people over a two-day period.
A Perfect Circle tickets - The History of A Perfect Circle
The super group A Perfect Circle is back. After a hiatus since an international tour in 2004, the band has been touring again and A Perfect Circle tickets are sure to be a sizzling sell. This group, founded by iconic Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan and guitarist Billy Howerdel, is an amalgam of modern styles and originality. They added Paz Lenchantin (bass and violin), Troy Van Leeuwen on guitar, and drummer Tim Alexander. Kennan's vocals and melodic choices always take an unexpected turn while his lyrics bite deep into the psyche and force listeners to wake up and take notice. Meanwhile, Howerdel's guitar backdrops keep the music anchored to its alt-metal roots.
Perfect Circle tickets - The Music of A Perfect Circle
A Perfect Circle released its debut album, "Mer de Noms" in 2000, and it became the highest ever debut for a rock band, selling nearly 200,000 copies in the first week and jumping to #4 on Billboard. The band immediately hit the road, touring with Howerdel's former group Nine Inch Nails. The singles "Judith," "Libras" and "Hollow" have endured as hits. That set the stage for A Perfect Circle's second album, "Thirteenth Step" in 2003, though with slightly altered personnel, as Paz Lenchantin and Van Leeuwen left the band for other gigs. Therefore, "Thirteenth Step" features a new sound for the group, more melodic, rhythmic and somewhat lighter, such as on the singles "Blue" and "Weak and Powerless." Following positive reviews and a successful world tour, A Perfect Circle returned home to the U.S. to record their third album "Emotive", a collection of mostly covers associated with peace, such as John Lennon's "Imagine," Nick Lowe's "Peace, Love and Understanding" and Depeche Mode's "People Are People." The album, which received mixed reviews, was immediately followed with the release of a CD-DVD set, "Amotion", with music videos for several singles. That year, after playing their last concert in Denver, A Perfect Circle went on hiatus, the band members disbursing to work on other projects. Finally, in 2010, A Perfect Circle reunited and launched a tour in the U.S. and Canada.
