As the first new Big Ten football stadium built in decades, Huntington Bank Stadium was designed with both tradition and modernity in mind. It replaced the Metrodome as the Gophers’ home and marked a return to on-campus football for the first time since 1981.
History and Legacy
When it opened in 2009 as TCF Bank Stadium, the venue represented a major investment in Golden Gophers athletics and the university community. The stadium has since hosted not only Gophers football but also the Minnesota Vikings (while U.S. Bank Stadium was under construction), the Minnesota United FC soccer team and major concerts.
In 2021, the stadium was renamed Huntington Bank Stadium following a merger between TCF Bank and Huntington Bank. The venue continues to be celebrated for its open-air design, beautiful views of the Minneapolis skyline and reputation as one of the most environmentally friendly stadiums in the country, thanks to its LEED certification.

Driving and Parking
Parking is available across the University of Minnesota campus, including surface lots and parking ramps. It’s highly recommended to purchase parking in advance, especially on gamedays when demand is high.

The Metro Green Line light rail provides direct service to Stadium Village Station, which is just steps from the stadium. Metro Transit buses also serve the area, making public transportation one of the easiest ways to arrive.
