Few albums in the history of recorded music carry the weight of Songs in the Key of Life. Released in 1976, Stevie Wonder’s sprawling double album became an immediate No. 1 success, won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year and produced songs that remain woven into the sound of modern soul and pop.

The tour opens Oct. 13 in Birmingham, England, before traveling through Paris, Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, Hannover, Cologne, Amsterdam, Dublin, London, Manchester and Glasgow. The U.S. leg begins Nov. 19 at Madison Square Garden and concludes Dec. 19 at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.

The centerpiece is not a loose tribute or a greatest-hits set built around the album. Wonder has confirmed that he will perform Songs in the Key of Life in full at every show, including songs such as “Sir Duke,” “I Wish” and “Isn’t She Lovely” alongside deeper cuts including “Summer Soft,” “Joy Inside My Tears” and “Another Star.”

Detroit is the exception. Tickets for the Dec. 8 and Dec. 9 performances at the Fox Theatre go on sale Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. ET.
