Daughtry strips down for "Baptized" (Updated 1/23/14)

Daughtry's "Break the Spell" in 2011 became the band's first album not to go platinum … which might explain why they were "Waiting for Superman" in late 2013.

As it stands, "Superman" was the lead single from Daughtry's fourth album, "Baptized." The project included a long list of contributors, as Daughtry tweeted the band had been working with the likes of Martin Johnson of Boys Like Girls, Rock Mafia, and even Ali Tamposi and The Monsters and the Strangerz. It was all said to be part of the band's attempt to develop a lighter and brighter sound, but the album bowed in November to very mixed reviews.

Though Newsday gave the album a grade of B-, the Boston Globe was a little more critical of the "overload of corny lyrics" and thought the band was trying to channel Train or LIfehouse. The New York Times also couldn't find room to offer much praise, saying Daughtry felt limited with the new stripped-down music.

Daughtry has been touring non-stop since January 2007, and even now is no different. The Baptized World Tour is in full swing, with the band scheduling its first UK dates since 2010. The trek will see them perform four shows culminating at London's O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire on March 26. Along for the ride will be longtime bandmates Josh Paul (bass), Brian Craddock (guitar), Josh Steely (guitar), Robin Diaz (drums) and new addition Elvio Fernandes (keyboard). Behind only Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry remains the third-biggest selling "American Idol" alumnus around the world.

Daughtry is led by Chris Daughtry who, like Adam Lambert, is another American Idol finalist who has made it big in the music world even though he was not the show’s winner. The band’s self-titled debut released in 2006 sold more than four million copies and was Billboard’s number one selling album of 2007. Hit song “It’s Not Over” was the eighth most-played song across every radio format in 2007. Daughtry’s second album Leave This Town was released in 2009 with Daughtry commenting that the album had more of a rock sound to it.
