Few sporting events can match the atmosphere of a Major League Soccer game. Supporters' sections are chanting for 90 minutes, drums are pounding behind the goals and some of the world's biggest soccer stars are taking the field in stadiums across North America.

Compared with many other major professional sports, MLS can be a surprisingly affordable way to spend an afternoon or evening.

Of course, there's a big difference between buying tickets for a Wednesday night matchup and trying to score seats for a rivalry game or a visit from Lionel Messi's Inter Miami. The opponent, day of the week and even where you sit can make a substantial difference in what you pay.

The good news is that cheap MLS tickets are available throughout the season, and finding them doesn't have to mean settling for a lousy seat.

We've ranked the best places to buy affordable MLS tickets and broken down a few ways to get more for your money, whether you're attending your first match or following your club all season.

Ranking the best places to buy cheap MLS tickets

Most ticket websites can show you the cheapest available seat for an MLS match. But that doesn't tell you whether it's actually worth buying.

A $30 ticket behind the goal might look appealing until you discover a $40 seat near midfield that offers a much better view of the game.

For this ranking, we looked at the factors that matter most when shopping for MLS tickets, including inventory, pricing transparency, seat information, ticket delivery and tools that help fans recognize a good deal.

Here are the five places we'd check first.

1. SeatGeek

SeatGeek earns the top spot because it gives MLS fans plenty of options and makes it easier to figure out which tickets offer the best value.

Rather than simply sorting through hundreds of listings by price, fans can compare seat locations, evaluate deals and explore different sections before deciding where to sit.

Here's why SeatGeek stands out.

Extensive MLS ticket inventory: For the 2026 season, SeatGeek serves as an Official Ticketing Partner for numerous MLS clubs, including Austin FC, FC Cincinnati, Minnesota United FC, Philadelphia Union, Portland Timbers, Real Salt Lake, Sporting Kansas City and St. Louis CITY SC. SeatGeek has also announced a partnership with Chicago Fire FC, whose new stadium is scheduled to open in 2028. Nashville SC is set to join in 2027.

SeatGeek offers both primary and resale tickets for its MLS partner clubs, giving fans the ability to compare seats sold directly by teams with listings from other ticket holders in one place. SeatGeek also offers resale tickets for every other MLS club, making it a convenient destination for finding affordable seats across the entire league.

Whether you're looking for face-value tickets or hoping to score a resale bargain, having access to both types of inventory creates more opportunities to find a great deal.

Deal Score: A low ticket price doesn't necessarily mean you're getting a bargain. SeatGeek's Deal Score rates listings from 1 to 10 using factors such as price, seat location, historical ticket data and the value of comparable listings.

For example, a $55 lower-level midfield ticket could be a better deal than a $40 seat farther away from the action. Deal Score helps you spot those opportunities without having to manually compare every listing.

Interactive stadium maps and View From Seat: Where you sit makes a big difference at a soccer match. SeatGeek's interactive maps let you explore different sections, while available View From Seat images give you an idea of what the field looks like from each area.

That's especially useful when choosing between a seat behind the goal, a spot near midfield or a more affordable upper-level section in a larger stadium.

All-In Pricing: SeatGeek includes mandatory ticketing fees in the displayed price, making it easier to compare listings without discovering a higher total during checkout. You can focus on what the ticket actually costs rather than doing the math yourself.

SeatGeek Buyer Guarantee: Every eligible purchase is backed by the SeatGeek Buyer Guarantee, which helps protect fans if tickets are invalid, arrive too late or don't match what was ordered.

2. MLS team websites

Official team websites are another good place to start, particularly when single-match tickets first become available.

Each MLS club directs fans to its authorized ticketing provider, where they can explore primary ticket inventory, seating options and special offers.

There are several advantages to checking your club's website.

Primary tickets: When a match first goes on sale, team websites provide access to tickets at their original listed prices. For lower-demand games, these can be competitive with resale prices, particularly if there's plenty of inventory remaining.

Team-specific promotions: MLS clubs sometimes offer family ticket packages, group discounts, college student offers and special theme-night promotions. Some deals also include extras such as food or merchandise, potentially making them a better value than purchasing everything separately.

Supporters' section information: Team websites are useful for understanding designated supporters' areas, including general admission policies, standing requirements and any restrictions on visiting-team apparel.

Official ticketing details: Fans can find information about single-match onsales, mobile ticket entry, group sales and membership benefits directly from their clubs.

Where team websites become less helpful is when you're trying to compare the value of different resale listings.

Limited price comparisons: A club's ticketing page may prioritize its available primary inventory, making it more difficult to determine whether a season-ticket holder is offering a similar seat for less on the resale market.

Popular matches can sell quickly: When a high-demand opponent comes to town, some of the most affordable primary seats may disappear well before matchday.

3. Ticketmaster

Ticketmaster is the Official Ticketing Partner of MLS and handles primary ticket sales for numerous clubs across the league.

It's also a major destination for resale tickets, making it another option for fans comparing available seats.

Its biggest strengths include:

Primary and resale inventory: For participating clubs, Ticketmaster provides access to standard tickets alongside verified resale listings. This allows fans to compare seats being sold by the team with those listed by other ticket holders.

MLS Ticket Exchange: Ticketmaster operates the MLS Ticket Exchange, giving fans a platform to buy and resell eligible tickets through the league's official ticketing ecosystem.

Interactive seating maps: Fans can explore available sections, compare prices and see which seating areas still have inventory.

There are a few limitations worth considering.

Finding the best value takes more work: Ticketmaster lets fans compare listings by location and price, but it doesn't provide the same comprehensive ticket-value rating as SeatGeek's Deal Score. That leaves more of the analysis to the buyer.

Limited availability to see the view from your seat: Many MLS seating maps on Ticketmaster don't include photos showing the view from specific sections. That makes it harder to judge what you're getting for your money, especially when comparing cheaper seats behind the goal or in the upper levels with more expensive options closer to midfield.

4. StubHub

StubHub is one of the largest ticket resale marketplaces, offering MLS tickets for matches across the league. It's worth checking if you're looking for additional seating options, particularly for high-demand games where primary tickets are limited or sold out.

Large resale marketplace: StubHub features tickets from individual sellers, including season-ticket holders who can't attend a particular match. This can give fans access to seats in sections that may no longer be available through the team's official ticketing provider.

Multiple ways to identify good deals: StubHub uses a ticket grading system similar to SeatGeek's Deal Score to help fans evaluate listings based on price and seat location. It also highlights certain tickets with labels such as "Best Price," "Hidden Gem" and "Fan Favorite," giving shoppers additional ways to spot affordable seats and compare value without examining every listing individually.

There are also a few drawbacks to consider.

Variable service fees: StubHub includes mandatory fees in its displayed ticket prices, but its service fees can vary between listings and even browsing sessions. StubHub has acknowledged that two fans viewing the same ticket can encounter different fees, making it worth comparing the final price carefully before purchasing.

Questions about the FanProtect Guarantee: StubHub's FanProtect Guarantee promises valid tickets, comparable replacements or a refund if something goes wrong. However, the company faced scrutiny during the 2026 FIFA World Cup after fans reported tickets that never arrived and difficulties securing promised replacements. The complaints prompted an investigation by the Texas Attorney General, raising questions about how effectively the guarantee protects buyers when ticket fulfillment problems arise.

5. Vivid Seats

Vivid Seats is another major resale marketplace offering tickets for MLS matches across the league. It's worth considering for fans looking to compare additional resale options, particularly those who attend multiple sporting events throughout the year.

Its best features include:

Strong ticket filters: Fans can narrow listings by price, section, quantity and ticket features, making it easier to find affordable seats without scrolling through every available listing. This can be particularly useful when comparing general admission supporters' sections with reserved seating elsewhere in the stadium.

Loyalty program: Vivid Seats Rewards gives buyers one stamp for every eligible ticket purchased. After collecting 10 stamps, members receive a reward credit based on the average value of those tickets, excluding taxes, fees and processing costs. For MLS fans who attend several matches each season, the rewards can add up over time.

There are a few drawbacks to consider before buying.

The Lowest Price Guarantee comes with plenty of restrictions: Vivid Seats promises credit worth 115% of the price difference if you find comparable tickets for less on an eligible resale marketplace. But purchases must be made through its app, claims must be submitted within one hour of order confirmation and tickets purchased within 24 hours of kickoff aren't eligible. Approved claims are also paid in Vivid Seats credit rather than cash, with a $200 limit per claim. That's a lot of conditions for fans simply trying to secure the lowest price.

Limited View From Seat previews: Vivid Seats provides interactive seating maps, but many MLS listings don't include photos showing what the field looks like from a particular section. That makes it harder to judge whether a cheaper ticket offers a good view or if it's worth spending more to sit closer to midfield. Without those previews, fans have less information to work with when comparing seats.

Tips for finding cheap MLS tickets and getting the best value

Finding an affordable MLS ticket is one thing. Getting a great seat at a price you're happy with is another.

With 17 regular-season home matches for each club, fans have plenty of opportunities to compare games, explore different seating sections and find tickets that fit their budget.

Here are some of the best ways to save on MLS tickets without sacrificing the matchday experience.

Consider supporters' sections for affordable tickets and a great atmosphere

Some of the most exciting seats in MLS stadiums are also among the more affordable.

Many clubs have designated supporters' sections behind one of the goals, where organized fan groups lead chants, wave flags, play drums and stand throughout the match.

At Providence Park, the Timbers Army has helped make Portland home games famous for their atmosphere. LAFC's 3252 creates a similar experience in the North End of BMO Stadium, while Austin FC's supporters bring nonstop energy to Q2 Stadium.

Supporters' sections are often general admission and can cost less than reserved seats near midfield, making them an appealing choice for fans who want to be part of the action without paying premium prices.

There are a few things to know before buying, though.

Expect to stand for most or all of the match, and don't be surprised if flags occasionally obstruct your view. Some sections also have restrictions on wearing the visiting team's colors.

If you prefer a traditional seated experience or you're attending with young children, check the section's policies before purchasing. But for fans who love singing, chanting and celebrating with fellow supporters, these sections can offer tremendous value.

Target midweek games and less popular opponents

One of the easiest ways to save on MLS tickets is to be flexible about which match you attend.

Saturday evening games can attract more fans, especially when a rival or popular opponent comes to town. A Wednesday night matchup against a team from the opposite conference may have significantly less demand, creating opportunities for lower ticket prices.

If you're simply looking to enjoy an MLS match, compare prices for several upcoming home games before choosing one. You may discover that a seat near midfield for a less popular matchup costs about the same as an upper-level ticket for a major rivalry game.

Check international breaks and star-player availability

One of the biggest factors affecting MLS ticket prices is whether a team's biggest stars are expected to play.

Unlike most American professional sports leagues, MLS has players regularly called up to represent their national teams. International duty, injuries, suspensions and squad rotation can all affect whether a star player takes the field.

That can also have a major impact on ticket demand.

If you're more interested in seeing an affordable MLS match than watching a particular superstar, those situations can create excellent buying opportunities.

Set Price Alerts to find MLS ticket deals

You don't have to check ticket prices every day to find a good deal. SeatGeek's Price Alerts can do some of that work for you.

If you have a particular MLS match in mind, you can set a Price Alert on SeatGeek and receive notifications when ticket prices change. That way, you'll know when a potentially more affordable option becomes available without constantly refreshing the event page.

This can be especially helpful for popular rivalry games, Inter Miami matchups or playoff matches, where ticket prices may fluctuate considerably as kickoff approaches.

For the best results, set your alerts early and use SeatGeek's Deal Score to evaluate listings when prices change. A lower price doesn't always mean a better seat, but combining Price Alerts with Deal Score can help you recognize opportunities worth considering.

Just remember that ticket prices can rise as well as fall, and setting an alert doesn't guarantee that cheaper tickets will become available.

Whether you're chasing a bargain for a regular-season match or hoping to witness an unforgettable MLS Cup Playoffs moment, the right ticket at the right price can put you in the stands when it matters most.
