The English rock band, Muse, was formed in 1994 after a few friends won a local battle of the band's competition. After playing gigs around London and Manchester, Muse released their debut album, Showbiz, in 1999. Over the next few years, the group experimented with instruments such as the church organ, animal bones and an expanded drum kit, giving their next album a classical yet romantic influence. In 2001, the group released their sophomore album, Origins of Symmetry, which showcased their newly developed melancholic sound. Muse had their big break after releasing their third album, Absolution, which debuted at No. 1 in the UK and produced their first top ten hit, ‘Time is Running Out. ’ Following this success, they released their third album, Black Holes and Revelations, which incorporated electronic and pop elements. Muse is known for their lyrical albums, all of which are inspired by introspective themes, books and global issues. Each album represents a different concept, such as relationships, science fiction and drone warfare. Muses’ ability to create a cohesive sound while blending many different styles is nothing short of impressive, making it no surprise that they have won multiple Grammys and sold millions of albums worldwide.
