Tim McGraw takes fans to 'Heaven'

Tim McGraw is taking fans to heaven. Sundown Heaven, that is.

McGraw's highly anticipated "Sundown Heaven Town" album will drop on September 16, 2014. The wait, however, is already over for cover art and the project's track listing. Both were released on July 28th, and the album immediately went up for pre-order at iTunes, Amazon and the singer's website the next day.

Co-produced with longtime collaborator Byron Gallimore, McGraw's new album will be available as a standard 13-song edition, or as an 18-track deluxe edition. The latter will feature a duet with Kid Rock called "Lincoln Continentals and Cadillacs," while McGraw's wife Faith Hill lends her vocals to "Meanwhile Back at Mama's" and Catherine Dunn sings on "Diamond rings and Old Barstools."

"This album is very encompassing of everything I've done in my career," McGraw told Rolling Stone magazine. "I think it's a good microcosm of what my 20 or so years in music have been, in a lot of ways. You can certainly hear parts of my career throughout all of these songs, as well as the future and where my music is headed. To me, the title of the album is all about that time where you stop doing what you have to do, and start doing what you want to do."

The current single, "Meanwhile Back at Mama's," is still climbing the charts and now in the Top 10 at country radio. The singer's summer tour is also underway, and will continue into the fall. He also has one date already on the books for 2015&mdashCountry Jam USA in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Tim McGraw finds his 'Freedom' (Updated 9/13/13)

Even though he's still locked in a long-standing feud with former label Curb Records, Tim McGraw has found his freedom. Or make that "Two Lanes of Freedom."

The aforementioned album, McGraw's latest, officially bowed on February 5, 2013 as his very first project for Big Machine Records. It debuted at No. 2 on the charts by selling 108,000 copies, and spawned smash hits "Truck Yeah," "One of Those Nights" and "Highway Don't Care," featuring Taylor Swift and Keith Urban. The fourth single, "Southern Girl," is also climbing the charts.

McGraw performed in support of his album on the "Two Lanes of Freedom Tour," with the trek unofficially wrapped in late July with shows in Canada, New York and Virginia. The singer was joined on the road by up-and-comers Brantley Gilbert and Love and Theft, but still has a few more stops on the schedule. After that, McGraw and his wife, Faith Hill, will return to the Venetian in Las Vegas in limited encore performances of their joint stage show "Soul2Soul." It returns to the Strip beginning October 25-26 and includes 10 select weekends through April 2014.

As if McGraw hasn't been busy enough, he's also apparently been "sworn to secrecy" over a new movie role, which would be his first since 2010's "Country Strong." The new film, rumored to be called "Five Good Years," apparently focuses on a coal miner forced into a boxing ring to save his critically-ill mother. McGraw has also previously starred in "The Blind Side," "Four Christmases," "The Kingdom," "Flicka," "Friday Night Lights" and "Black Cloud."

Updated November 5, 2012: McGraw jumps the Curb

With total album sales exceeding 40 million units in the United States and 11 consecutive albums that debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard album charts, it may have been foolish to think anything or anyone could derail the career of one of country's hottest stars. But a contract dispute between Tim McGraw and his former label, Curb Records, put the brakes on the release of his 11th studio album, "Emotional Traffic," until 2012, though it was completed in late 2010.

The controversy that wound its way through Tennessee's Court of Appeals ended with McGraw's jump to rival label Big Machine Records. On October 30, 2012 he announced his upcoming twelfth studio album will be entitled, "Two Lanes of Freedom." It will be released on February 5, 2013. He debuted the lead single, "One of Those Nights," at the CMA Awards on November 1, 2012. Other new songs will include, "Nashville Without You," and "Mexicoma."

Tim and wife Faith Hill will begin a limited engagement at the Venetian Resort, Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas beginning December 7-8. They are confirmed to perform four shows during each of the 10 weekends through April 2013 at the 1,815 seat venue.

The most recent of McGraw and Hill's three tours together ended in 2007. McGraw is coming off the Brothers of the Sun tour with Kenny Chesney. Their stadium dates ended with back-to-back concerts at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass. The pair won the 2012 CMA Award for Musical Event of the Year for the song "(Whatever Makes You) Feel Like a Rock Star."
