The 2026-27 NFL schedule has officially dropped, and every fanbase is doing the same thing: scanning the calendar to see when their team gets the national spotlight.

There’s nothing quite like being at an NFL prime-time game. The lights feel brighter and the crowd feels louder. Whether it’s a Thursday night matchup that kicks off the week or a Sunday night rivalry game, prime-time NFL games carry a different kind of energy. Because these games are usually standalone national windows, the entire football world is watching the same matchup at the same time.

That spotlight is part of what makes attending one so memorable. Fans are not just showing up for another regular-season game, but rather stepping into one of the marquee moments of the NFL calendar.

Of course, the NFL does not hand out those windows randomly. Prime-time games are where the league showcases its biggest stars, best teams, most compelling storylines and highest-profile matchups. That usually means MVP-caliber quarterbacks, playoff contenders and top rivalries.

So which teams will get the biggest national spotlight during the 2026-27 regular season? Let’s check out which teams are scheduled for the most prime-time appearances.

What is an NFL prime-time game?

An NFL prime-time game is a nationally televised game played in a standalone night window, usually when there are no other NFL games happening at the same time. These games are designed to draw a national audience and are often treated as some of the biggest regular-season matchups of the year.

For the purposes of this list, we are counting the following as NFL prime-time games:

Sunday Night Football, typically the NFL’s premier weekly national window.

Monday Night Football, one of the league’s longest-running national showcases.

Thursday Night Football, the weekly standalone game that usually opens the NFL week.

Other standalone night games, including this year’s Wednesday night season opener, select Friday night games, Saturday night games or holiday night games when applicable.

We are not counting international games being televised to the U.S. early in the day or holiday afternoon games. Those contests can still be massive standalone events, but they are not traditionally categorized as prime-time games.

It is also worth noting that the NFL’s prime-time schedule can change during the season. Flexible scheduling allows certain games to be moved into or out of national windows later in the year, especially if playoff races, injuries or team performance make a matchup more or less compelling. So the numbers below reflect the initial 2026 NFL schedule release and could change before the season ends.

Which NFL teams have the most prime-time games in 2026?
