About the Athletics

The Athletics, often referred to as the A's, originated as the Philadelphia Athletics in 1901 as one of the charter franchises of the American League. Founded by Connie Mack and Ben Shibe, the team quickly became a powerhouse, winning five World Series titles between 1910 and 1930. The franchise relocated to Kansas City in 1955 and eventually moved to Oakland in 1968. Since then, the team has established a strong legacy on the West Coast, becoming known for their passionate fan base and commitment to developing talented players, often through innovative methods. Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum served as the home ballpark for the A's from 1968 until 2024. Beginning with the 2025 season, the A's will relocate to Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento, where they will remain until their new ballpark in Las Vegas is finished in 2028.

The Athletics have achieved several major accomplishments throughout their history, including a string of championships and pioneering the "Moneyball" strategy, which emphasized data-driven decisions in player acquisition. They won three consecutive World Series titles from 1972 to 1974, led by players like Reggie Jackson and Catfish Hunter. The A's also reached the World Series three times in the late 1980s, winning in 1989 under manager Tony La Russa in a memorable series against the San Francisco Giants, known as the "Bay Bridge Series." In the early 2000s, general manager Billy Beane popularized a statistical approach to team-building, which helped the A's remain competitive despite a limited budget and reshaped how Major League Baseball teams evaluate talent

How much are Athletics tickets?

Where do the Athletics play?

The Athletics will play their 2025 and 2026 season home games at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento, CA.

After moving the franchise out of Oakland and into Vegas, with a new stadium pending, the Athletics will play this season's home games at Sutter Health Park. Historically, the A's played at the Oakland Coliseum, opened in 1966, the last remaining multi-purpose stadium shared by a professional baseball and football team until the Oakland Raiders' departure in 2019. Despite its challenges, the stadium’s large foul territory and unique atmosphere have given it a distinct identity.

When is the Athletics Opening Day?

The Athletics Opening Day is March 26, 2026.

How long are Athletics games?

Athletics games, like most Major League Baseball (MLB) games, typically last around 2 hours and 36 minutes. This average duration has been consistent across the league since the implementation of the pitch clock in 2023, which significantly reduced game times from previous years.

While the average game lasts 2 hours and 36 minutes, actual Athletics game durations can vary. Factors such as extra innings, high-scoring games, or frequent pitching changes can extend the length of a Athletics game. Conversely, games with efficient pitching and quick innings may conclude in less time.

Planning for a 3-hour window is typically a safe bet for a Athletics game!

Can I show tickets on my phone for the Athletics game?

Absolutely! SeatGeek offers mobile entry for all Athletics games, making it simple to scan your Athletics tickets straight from your phone. No need to print anything—just pull up your ticket in the SeatGeek app and you’re good to go.

What happens if a Athletics game is rained out?

If a Athletics game is postponed due to weather, your SeatGeek tickets for Athletics game will be valid for the rescheduled date. If the game is canceled without rescheduling, you’ll receive a full refund. SeatGeek’s Buyer Guarantee ensures you’re covered in case of schedule changes.

Most MLB teams allow small and compact umbrellas for rainy games. However, they should not be so large as to block the view of other fans. Some fans suggest using ponchos or rain jackets as a more convenient alternative to umbrellas at baseball games, especially if the rain is heavy.

Can I transfer my Athletics tickets to someone else?

Yes! SeatGeek makes it easy to transfer your Athletics tickets directly through the app. Just go to your tickets, tap “Transfer” and send them to friends or family. They’ll receive the tickets instantly, and you can enjoy a stress-free game day.

When is Athletics fan appreciation night?

Special promotional nights like Fan Appreciation Night, Bobblehead Giveaways and Fireworks Nights are some of the most popular events of the season. SeatGeek highlights these dates in ticket listings, so you can plan ahead and grab tickets for the most exciting Athletics games.

Scroll up to find promotional nights for your Athletics!

Are Athletics tickets cheaper last-minute?

Sometimes! While high-demand games may sell out quickly, Athletics ticket prices may drop in the final week before game day. If you're flexible with your plans, waiting can often lead to big savings.

Want to time it just right? Set up a pricing alert for the Athletics game you’re eyeing, and we’ll notify you when ticket prices drop. Whether you're catching a midweek Athletics game or planning a last-minute weekend outing, alerts take the guesswork out of finding a great deal!

How to get last-minute Athletics tickets?

As MLB's Official Ticket Marketplace, SeatGeek is the best place to buy last-minute Athletics tickets. The good news is ticket prices tend to drop closer to game time. Track the event you want to attend, and we'll send you updates on price drops so you can get the best deals on last-minute Athletics tickets.

Here are some tips when it comes to searching for last-minute Athletics tickets:

  • Be flexible on location and timing: Check for weekday Athletics games with lower demand. Consider upper-level seats, as they often drop the most in price.

  • Time it right: Prices tend to dip 24–48 hours before, and again in the final hours—especially when opening acts or weather variables come into play. But when a great deal pops up, move fast—this window is very short.

And don't worry about entry for last-minute tickets. When you buy with SeatGeek, your tickets will show up immediately in your SeatGeek app for a smooth gameday experience.
