Accessible Seating at the August Wilson Theatre
The August Wilson Theatre offers Wheelchair Accessible seating, Aisle Transfer seating, Companion seating, and Vision/Hearing Accessible seating.
All accessible seating at the August Wilson is located on the Orchestra level. There is a Stair Lift that provides direct access from the front of the theatre to the Orchestra level. A person does not have to be a wheelchair user to use the lift; however, the Stair Lift has a weight capacity of 500 pounds. Upon arrival, please contact a member of the staff outside the theater and they will guide you to the Stair Lift. A member of the staff will assist guests with the operation of the lift before and after the performance.
Guests who choose not to use the Stair Lift should note that there are 8 steps down into the Main Lobby of the theatre from the sidewalk and 25 steps up from there to the Orchestra level. All steps to the Orchestra have handrails. There are steps with handrails to access seating on all other levels of the theatre.

Wheelchair Companion seat is a seat that is located next to a Wheelchair Accessible seat. A Wheelchair Companion seat is not a removable seat. Pricing for Wheelchair Companion seating varies to capture the range of prices available throughout the theatre.

Aisle Transfer seat is a seat located on the aisle with an outer arm that can be raised or removed at the request of the ticket holder. Pricing for Aisle Transfer seating matches that of surrounding seats.

Aisle Transfer Companion seat is a seat that is located next to an Aisle Transfer seat. An Aisle Transfer Companion seat does not have an adjustable or removable arm. Pricing for Aisle Transfer Companion seating matches that of surrounding seats.
Vision/Hearing Accessible seating is located in the middle of Orchestra Center Row B, the second row from the stage. Pricing for Vision/Hearing Accessible seating matches that of surrounding seats.
Once at the theatre, please ask an usher or other theatre staff member if you need assistance with your accessible seating.
Accessibility by Seating Location
There is a Stair Lift that provides direct access from the front of the theatre to the Orchestra level. Once in the Orchestra level, guests do not need to navigate any steps to designated wheelchair or aisle transfer seating locations. Guests who choose not to use the Stair Lift should note that there are 8 steps down into the Main Lobby of the theatre from the sidewalk and 25 steps up from there to the Orchestra level. All stairs to the Orchestra level have handrails. Accessible seating is available in the Orchestra only.
Mezzanine seating is located on the 2nd level, up 16 steps from the Orchestra. There are an additional 6 steps up from the Mezzanine lobby to the Mezzanine entrance (located behind row E), and an additional 19 steps up to the remainder of the Mezzanine. All stairs to and in the Mezzanine level have handrails.
Please Note: On the Mezzanine level, there are approximately 2 steps up/down per row.
Tickets for Accessible Seating at the August Wilson Theatre
Wheelchair Accessible seating, Aisle Transfer seating, Companion seating, and Vision/Hearing Accessible seating can be purchased on SeatGeek.com, if locations are available. After selecting a performance, click the Accessible button to display all accessible seating types. If you want to see only certain types of accessible seating, open the filter screen by clicking the button with horizontal lines in the SeatGeek app, or the top left button with vertical lines on SeatGeek.com. Use the toggles at the bottom of the filter screen to select specific types of accessible seating. Make sure to select “Any Quantity” of tickets at the top of the filter screen so that all available seats falling under the selected category or categories of accessible seating are displayed.

Elevators/Escalators at the August Wilson Theatre
There are no elevators or escalators at the August Wilson Theatre. There is a Stair Lift available to the Orchestra level (see information above for details). All stairs to the Orchestra level and all stairs to and in the Mezzanine level have handrails.

loops, and infrared headsets. If an assistive device would help you enjoy the show, please visit

Restrooms at the August Wilson Theatre
Restrooms are located in the Main Lobby, 1 flight down from the Orchestra. There is an
accessible, single-stall, all-gender restroom on the Orchestra level.
We encourage you to use the restroom that best fits your gender identity or expression.
Coat Check at the August Wilson Theatre
The coat check is located in the Main Lobby. The charge is $3 per item. If stairs prevent you from accessing the Main Lobby, ask a member of the staff for assistance.
Safety at the August Wilson Theatre
All bags are subject to inspection and all guests will go through a metal detector before entering the August Wilson Theatre. No weapons of any kind, including firearms, knives, tasers, mace, and pepper spray, are allowed. Additionally, personal alarms, glass bottles/containers, lighters, bikes, e-bikes, e-scooters, illegal substances, and alcohol are not permitted.
Theatre Management reserves the right to prohibit other items as deemed necessary.
