Previously residing in Rochester, Cincinnati, and Kansas City, the Sacramento Kings moved to their current city in 1985. The team is notorious for some offensively gifted squads, including a team in the early 2000s that may have been the best in the league at the time. Before then, though, the Kings had some iconic players through out their time in Sacramento.
When the franchise was new to Sacramento, players like Reggie Theus and Larry Drew were key players with the draft pick of Ricky Berry in 1988-1989 showcasing all of his talent after a strong rookie year. But things really got going for the Kings at the turn of the century, where they put together an entertaining squad that nearly broke through for championships.
That team consisted of players like Chris Webber and Vlade Divac to play at the bigger positions on the floor, with dynamic guards like Mike Bibby and the sharp shooting Peja Stojakovic to spread the floor and make the Kings a terror on the offensive end of the floor. This team modeled closely some of the more modern squads that choose to spread the floor and shoot three point shots as a top priority.
This iteration of the Kings was the most successful version of the squad, as they won two straight division titles in 2002 and 2003. They competed for the Western Conference championship in 2002, where the Lakers just barely got the better of the Kings despite incredible performances throughout the series from the likes of Webber and Bibby.
Because of the controversy surrounding officiating of the series and how heated things got toward the end of it, the Lakers are still the biggest rival of the Kings.
The Kings were famous for carrying the longest playoff drought in the NBA at 16 years. The curse was finally broken in 2023 with the acquisitions of Domantas Sabonis and rookie Keegan Murray, an All-NBA caliber season from De’Aaron Fox, and one bright purple beam.
Ticket prices for Sacramento Kings games depend on several factors, and they can range widely. Key determinants include seating location, opponent, game importance, and demand. Premium seats, such as courtside or VIP sections, command significantly higher prices than upper deck or standard seating. Games featuring high-profile matchups, rivalries, or playoff implications will generally cost more.
Some of the main influences on ticket prices for Kings ticket sare:
Opponent and importance:Kings games against strong or popular teams typically cost more. Rivalry games, weekend or prime-time contests, and postseason play tend to draw higher demand.
Seating location: Proximity to the court, club, or lower bowl access, and amenities (e.g., sideline views, VIP lounges) substantially affect cost.
Venue and market size: Arenas in larger media markets or with more amenities often have higher base prices. Venue capacity, infrastructure, and premium features add to value.
Timing and demand dynamics: Prices often fluctuate with supply and demand. As availability decreases or demand increases (e.g., as game day nears), prices may rise. Conversely, less Kings popular games or advance-purchase tickets may offer savings.

Showing up 60 minutes before tip-off to a Sacramento Kings game usually hits the sweet spot. It gives you enough time to park or get dropped off, go through security (which often has lines), and walk in without rushing. You’ll also get a chance to buy food or drinks, grab some merch before stores get crowded, find your seat, and maybe catch the last part of warm-ups or Kings player introductions.
If you arrive much later, you risk missing those moments, getting stuck in lines, or being stressed trying to settle in. If you arrive much earlier, you might have too much downtime waiting. So 60 minutes balances “getting the most” and “not spending forever waiting.”
You can check the latest postseason schedule via the /sacramento-kings-tickets/playoff-tickets to see if the Sacramento Kings are in the playoffs. You'll find details on playoff games, ticket availability and more!
