Brother Sun continuing tour
Brother Sun, the uber talented trio of singer-songwriters, is continuing an incredibly busy tour schedule in the front half of 2015 that will take them across the United States.
All three of the band's members – Greg Greenway, Pat Wictor and Joe Jencks – are no strangers to life on the road. They put two more years of nationwide touring under their belts between the release of their debut album and the follow-up, "Some part of the Truth," which critics say took a large step forward in revealing Brother Sun not only as singers, but as complete musicians.
Not only did "Some Part of the Truth" debut at No. 1 on the Folk-DJ charts, it remained in the top spot for two consecutive months. "Lady of the Harbor" was also the No. 1 song on Folk-DJ for April 2013, and WFUV in New York named Brother Sun one of its "New Artists to Watch" as a result.
If you're still unfamiliar with Brother Sun, consider the words of WFMT (Chicago's) Rich Warren. He said, "What happens when you unite three of the best male singers in the folk realm who already revel in harmony singing? Brother Sun. While numerous delightful female trios harmonize, few men bond that way these days… Added to great voices, energy and sincerity are worthy compositions in three distinct styles that bring to mind a modern day gospel."
If you're still not sold on Brother Sun, we know you will be. Get your tickets to see them now.
About Brother Sun
Brother Sun is a trio of national touring artists Joe Jencks, Greg Greenway and Pat Wictor. Together, these singer-songwriters have found their niche – becoming known for their harmonies as much as their lyrics.
It's hard to put a label on this act, which fuses Americana, blues, folk, jazz, rock and pop in a way that makes you wanna stand up and give a rousing ovation to musical diversity. It's amazing to know the man miles that once stood between them – Joe in Chicago, Greg in Boston and Pat in New York – and how they've come together to find the harmony that is so beautifully showcased.
If you've seen these guys in person you'll know how the story goes. If you haven't, you're in for a real treat. The rich vocals aside, they'll break out everything from guitar and slide guitar to bouzouki and piano. Fans at their sold out concerts can attest to this, as they've played the main stage at both Kerrville and Falcon Ridge Folk Festivals in 2011. Not only were they invited back, they would also play the Philadelphia Folk Festival and the Old Songs Festival.
By the time their debut album dropped, it powered to No. 2 on the Folk DJ Charts and stayed there for eight months. It was also named the No. 8 album of 2011 on FOLK-DJ. Brother Sun also made the "Best of 2011" list for more than a dozen radio stations in the U.S., including large markets like Boston, New York City and Chicago.
