About the Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals were established in 1968 as a member of the American Football League (AFL) before joining the NFL as part of the merger in 1970. Founded by legendary coach Paul Brown, the Bengals initially struggled but eventually found success in the 1980s. Led by quarterback Ken Anderson and head coach Forrest Gregg, the Bengals made their first Super Bowl appearance in the 1981 season but lost to the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XVI.
The Bengals returned to the Super Bowl in the 1988 season under head coach Sam Wyche and quarterback Boomer Esiason. Once again, they faced the 49ers in a closely contested game but fell short in Super Bowl XXIII. Despite their early promise, the Bengals endured a prolonged period of mediocrity in the 1990s and early 2000s.
A resurgence began in the 2010s under head coach Marvin Lewis and later reached new heights with the arrival of quarterback Joe Burrow. In the 2021 season, Burrow led the Bengals to their first Super Bowl appearance in over three decades. With a young and talented core, the Bengals are poised to remain competitive in the AFC North.

A brief history of Paycor Stadium
Opened in 2000 as Paul Brown Stadium, it was named after the franchise’s founder and legendary coach. In 2022, it was renamed Paycor Stadium under a naming rights agreement. Recent upgrades have focused on fan amenities, audio systems and locker room improvements.
