The biggest stage in international soccer now has one of its two teams. Spain defeated France to secure the first spot in the 2026 World Cup Final, leaving England and Argentina to fight for the chance to join La Roja at MetLife Stadium.
The second semifinal is scheduled for Wednesday, July 15 at 3 p.m. ET, with its winner advancing to face Spain for an epic World Cup Final matchup on Sunday, July 19 at 3 p.m. ET. Spain will be chasing its second World Cup title, while England and Argentina are each trying to add another chapter to their own championship history.
This championship battle will also feature the first-ever World Cup Final halftime show, with Madonna, Shakira, Justin Bieber and BTS scheduled to perform. That adds another layer to an already massive matchday, especially for fans deciding when to arrive, where to sit and how to avoid missing part of the match or performance.
Whether you are following Spain, waiting to see whether England or Argentina joins them, arranging a last-minute trip or looking for World Cup Final tickets, here is what to know about the matchup, ticket delivery, halftime show and MetLife Stadium.
The 2026 World Cup final is scheduled for Sunday, July 19 at 3 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Spain has secured the first bid in the matchup and will face the winner of England vs. Argentina.
MetLife serves as home to the NFL's New York Giants and New York Jets. The World Cup final will be the 104th and final match of the first 48-team World Cup.
Parking lots are scheduled to open at 10 a.m. and stadium gates at 11 a.m., giving fans four hours to enter, find their seats and experience the pregame atmosphere before kickoff.
World Cup tickets purchased on SeatGeek are resale tickets and every purchase is backed by the SeatGeek Buyer Guarantee. The delivery process is more specific than it is for a normal sports event.
After purchasing, fans first receive a SeatGeek order confirmation. Once the seller initiates the transfer, the buyer should receive instructions to accept the FIFA Ticket Confirmation through the required FIFA ticketing account.
That confirmation is not yet the ticket used for entry. For most matches, SeatGeek expects the ticket to become fully activated 24 to 48 hours before kickoff, although it may happen later on matchday. At that stage, complete seat information should appear in the FWC2026 Mobile Tickets App.
For security reasons, the live QR code used to enter the stadium may not appear until a few hours before gates open. Fans will not enter using a screenshot, printed ticket or static PDF. The active ticket must be accessed through the official FWC2026 Mobile Tickets App.
World Cup final tickets can be expensive, which makes the event an especially attractive target for fake listings, duplicated tickets and off-platform payment scams.
The safest approach is to purchase through an established ticket marketplace that keeps the transaction on-platform, provides documented delivery instructions and offers protection if the tickets are not delivered or do not provide valid entry.
SeatGeek purchases are backed by the Buyer Guarantee. Fans can also review the full price before completing the order and keep the purchase information, delivery updates and customer support process connected to the same account.
Before buying World Cup final tickets:
Confirm that the listing is for the Final on Sunday, July 19 at MetLife Stadium rather than the third-place match on Saturday.
Check the full price before completing the purchase.
Read the estimated delivery date and transfer instructions.
Avoid anyone offering only a screenshot, printed ticket or PDF.
Never pay through a wire transfer, gift card or payment app outside the marketplace.
Be cautious of private sellers using an unusually low price or artificial deadline to push the transaction off-platform.
After purchasing, monitor your email and SeatGeek account for transfer instructions. Accept the tickets as soon as they become available and contact SeatGeek support if the delivery method or seat information does not match the order.
Madonna, Shakira, Justin Bieber and BTS will co-headline the first World Cup final halftime show.
Shakira has a long history with the tournament through songs and ceremony appearances including “Waka Waka,” while BTS member Jung Kook performed “Dreamers” during the 2022 World Cup opening ceremony.
A normal soccer halftime lasts approximately 15 minutes, which is much shorter than the break used to stage a Super Bowl halftime show. FIFA has confirmed the performers but has not yet published the exact runtime, stage location or full production plan for the World Cup Final performance.
The most important practical advice is simple: do not plan to use halftime for food, merchandise or a long restroom trip if seeing the performance matters to you. Concession lines are normally busiest at halftime even without a major concert taking place. With so many legendary artists performing, concourse demand may begin before the first half ends and remain heavy after play resumes.
Buy food and drinks before kickoff or during a quieter part of the first half. Use the restroom before the match begins rather than assuming the 15-minute interval will provide enough time.
MetLife Stadium has already hosted seven matches during the tournament, but the Final will place even more pressure on transportation, security, concessions and the surrounding Meadowlands complex. Fans should expect the day to feel closer to a major international festival than a normal Giants or Jets game.
Do not assume you can arrive at Penn Station or Secaucus Junction and purchase a normal train ticket to the stadium. NJ TRANSIT service to the Meadowlands is restricted to fans who have both a World Cup match ticket and a special NJ TRANSIT matchday ticket.
Matchday tickets must be purchased in advance through the NJ TRANSIT Mobile App and will not be sold at stations or aboard trains. The $98 round-trip fare includes unlimited NJ TRANSIT rail, bus and light-rail travel on the selected matchday. Tickets are nonrefundable, nontransferable and limited to 40,000 passengers.
Fans must also choose an available departure window when purchasing. Options begin four to five hours before kickoff and continue through the one-to-two-hour window before the match, with no tickets offered for the final hour. Fans who want time for security, merchandise, food and the pregame atmosphere should select an earlier window rather than relying on the final available option.
If a preferred window is unavailable, it is sold out. Do not purchase a later departure time and assume you will be allowed to join an earlier queue.
Fans traveling from Penn Station New York will be assigned one of two boarding zones on their NJ TRANSIT matchday ticket. Boarding Zone A is located at 32nd Street and Sixth Avenue, while Boarding Zone B is at 33rd Street and Seventh Avenue.
Staff will inspect both the World Cup match ticket and the NJ TRANSIT ticket before allowing fans into the queue. Entering through the wrong zone can result in denied boarding. Fans traveling together should purchase their transit tickets in the same transaction, since separate purchases may assign members of the group to different zones.
After the tickets are inspected, each passenger receives an NJ TRANSIT matchday wristband. Keep it on throughout the event. The wristband is required for the return trip and remains valid whether officials direct passengers to a train or bus after the match. NJ TRANSIT says its “No Wristband, No Ride” rule will be enforced.
Fans planning to drive should purchase Final-specific parking before matchday and confirm their assigned lot. Parking lots open at 10 a.m., and temporary road controls may affect how vehicles enter and leave the Meadowlands. Save the lot location and walking route before approaching the stadium, then take a photo of the vehicle’s location, lot letter and a nearby landmark after parking.
Rideshare may be convenient before the match, but post-event pickups can involve long waits, surge pricing and temporary traffic restrictions. Confirm the official FIFA pickup location before leaving and do not ask a driver to stop along an unauthorized roadway near the stadium.
Fans staying in Manhattan should compare rideshare with the special NJ TRANSIT matchday service before deciding how to travel. Whichever option you choose, make the plan before matchday rather than trying to arrange transportation shortly before kickoff.
Parking lots open at 10 a.m. and stadium gates open at 11 a.m. for the 3 p.m. kickoff. Fans who want merchandise, food, photos and the complete pregame atmosphere should aim to be inside by approximately noon.
That may sound early, but several stages can slow the trip: the queue at Penn Station, ticket inspections, the transfer at Secaucus Junction, the walk from Meadowlands Station, stadium security and locating the correct entrance.
Arriving at the Meadowlands at 2 p.m. does not mean you will be seated by kickoff.
Check that your ticket appears correctly in the FWC2026 Mobile Tickets App before leaving your hotel or home, then check it again when you reach the Meadowlands. Keep your phone charged and bring a portable charger that complies with FIFA’s prohibited-items policy.
Use the official stadium map to identify your recommended entrance and save your gate and section before traveling. Temporary FIFA security zones may limit how freely fans can move around the outside of the stadium, so approaching from the wrong side can add a long walk through heavy pedestrian traffic.
Fans whose tickets do not appear correctly should visit an official ticket-resolution point rather than waiting through the normal security line. Take a screenshot of the stadium map for reference, but remember that a screenshot, printed ticket or static PDF will not work for match entry.
The venue is operating under FIFA tournament policies rather than its usual Giants and Jets event rules. Bag restrictions, reusable bottle rules, flag policies, gate assignments, security perimeters and ticket-resolution locations may differ from a normal NFL event.
FIFA’s New York New Jersey Stadium guide includes the tournament-specific bag policy, gate map, ticket-resolution points, water fountains, charging stations, accessibility information and flag rules. Check the Final-specific guidance shortly before leaving rather than relying on an older MetLife Stadium policy page.
MetLife Stadium is open-air, and the 3 p.m. kickoff places much of the match during the hottest part of a July afternoon.
Wear breathable clothing, apply sunscreen before entering and hydrate throughout the day. Even fans whose seats are shaded may spend significant time in direct sun while waiting for transportation, moving through security or visiting outdoor areas around the stadium.
Check FIFA’s current reusable bottle policy before leaving. The stadium guide identifies water fountains and reusable bottle rules, but the permitted size and style should be confirmed for the Final.
Thunderstorms can also develop quickly during the summer. Check the forecast on match morning and bring only rain protection permitted under FIFA’s current prohibited-items policy.
FIFA has not revealed the exact stage design or placement for the halftime show, so it is difficult to predict which sections will have the clearest view of the performance.
Fans in very low rows may be closer to the production but could also have sightlines affected by cameras, speakers or temporary equipment. Elevated sideline seats may provide a better view of the full field design and choreography, while endline sections could offer a more limited angle depending on where the performers face.
Until the stage layout is confirmed, do not assume that being closer to the field will automatically provide the best halftime-show view.
The Final does not end at the final whistle. The medal ceremony, trophy presentation, celebrations and post-match scenes are central parts of attending the event.
Extra time and a penalty shootout could also push the finish later than expected, so avoid scheduling a tight flight, train connection, restaurant reservation or Broadway performance immediately after the match.
Leaving early may save a small amount of time, but it also means missing the moment the entire tournament has been building toward.
