About Madison Square Garden Events

For Madison Square Garden tickets and general venue information, read below.

Nicknamed The World's Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden is no stranger to being the backdrop for some of the most iconic athletes and musical artists to enter those professions. Opened in 1968, and located in the heart of New York City, the Garden is the home to the New York Knicks of the NBA, New York Rangers of the NHL, and New York Liberty of the WNBA, in addition to countless concerts and shows held throughout the year.

The Knicks are the most high-profile tenants of Madison Square Garden, and the venue has played host to many memorable nights during the Knicks' more successful periods. Memories of the crowd erupting after Larry Johnson completed his four point play against the Indiana Pacers to send the Knicks to the NBA Finals and Willis Reed hobbling out of the tunnel and onto the court to help the Knicks clinch a championship are two of the many great basketball moments the Garden has seen under its roof.

In addition to professional basketball, Madison Square Garden has been the home to plenty of incredible college basketball moments, thanks in large part to its role as the host of the Big East Tournament. 'Cardiac' Kemba Walker's stepback jump shot to sink Pitt at the buzzer helped UConn find momentum before a national championship run in 2011. And Syracuse's six overtime win over UConn in 2009 remains one of the most incredible college basketball games of all-time.

Boxing fans have fond memories of Madison Square Garden as well, with big fights happening regularly at MSG, including Muhammad Ali's first loss in 1971, when Joe Frazier took him out to become the heavyweight champion of the world.

In addition to all of those unforgettable sports moments, music superstars such as Madonna and U2 have taken the stage at Madison Square Garden.
