New Orleans Saints Details

There may be no other fanbase in the NFL that has been treated to more entertaining football in recent years than that of of the New Orleans Saints. This is thanks in large part to franchise quarterback Drew Brees. Brees enters the 2018 season with the third-most passing yards in NFL history, trailing only Peyton Manning and Brett Favre. Here’s a stat, though, that truly gets to the heart of his greatness: Of the five quarterbacks to post 5,000-yard passing seasons, only Brees has done it more than once. He has done it five times.

The Saints have been a member of the NFL since 1967, and they have played their games in the stadium now known as the Mercedes-Benz Superdome since 1975. After a few scattered playoff appearances throughout their history, the Saints finally broke through with a franchise-best 13 wins and their first ever Super Bowl title in the 2009 season. The title victory over the favored Colts was a galvanizing moment for a city still recovering from Hurricane Katrina years earlier.
